Is East 'Fully Liberated ' ?
Relevant authorities are unable to point fingers at the LTTE any longer, for it has already been declared that the East is liberated and the Tigers have been pushed out. The Eastern Province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan alias Pillaiyan, whose faction within his party was also blamed for the recent violence, has put on display his non-involvement in these acts of violence through the Ahimsa type of campaign he spearheaded two days ago in Batticaloa. Pillaiyan initiated a hunger strike in Batticaloa on Friday to protest against the series of killings. By doing so, he has attempted to absolve himself from these acts. Now the onus is on the other factions and groups that operate aimed at destablilising the East and also bringing disrepute to the United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Government led by President Mahinda Rajapaksa |
