politician would be there to serve people. that is part and parcel or democracy.

There is no evidence in Sri Lanka or India that Tamil people are better of governed by Tamil politicians.

Just looks at Arumugam Thondaman. What a crook! Betraying the poorest underprivileged people in Sri Lanka.

disengage the cluch mate, why are you holing on to it?
go on, your home land is Thamilnadu, and the hindian oppressor is holding it as part of Hindia, TN was never a part of Hindia, it was all due to the Britich colonials...

Now, if you have reasonable problems living in Sri Lanka among Sinhalese, work that out with local authorities. Like the black fellas did in USA. Not through violence but through dialogue. Remember, Tamils were never slaves in Sri Lanka (compare that to afros).

Then again, there's a limit to what a country can afford, and especially for a minority. So obviously any undue demands would not be forthcoming.

and read this

we lived as different ethnic groups in tamil and sinhala kingdoms in the island. so we cant compare our problem with other countries problems. north and east is homeland of tamil. there is no compromise on that. just because British amalgamated for administartive convenience sinhalese cant claim the whole island for themselves.
we have right to self determination in our traditional homland( north and east of currrent sl)

Your statements does not go together with your name ( free thinker! It is not free and it is narrow). You are living in a foreign country. Nothing is matching with your statements. It is not that majority or minority. It is diginity in question. Will you tolerate as a citizen what Srilanka was imposing on Tamil. Pity. It is just an accident that you born as Singhala. The main question itself is wrong. Tamils are not migrant to srilanka ( I do not know ). They are native as Singhalese or may be they were inhabiting the present Eelam much before Singhalese landed in present lanka.

Sunday island article shows what happened to the Tamil polity...

It is sad but, Tamils are not going to have a proper 'political' leader ship for years to come. That's why a federal solution not going to materialise any time soon, and given the development that take place in liberated areas within the next 5-10 years, (given +ve) no body's going to talk about a federal soln afterwards...

Our Bangalore Tamil Sangam ( Bangalore) has arranged a meeting to support Eelam cause.

I attended sunday mass today , father announced that the church is organizing a discussion on plight of eelam tamils ( interstingly the church hasnt used srilankan tamils, but the term eelam tamils ! ). The notice mentions that eelam tamils are facing genocide for the past 30 years.

The discussion is going to be held in Poonamallle , chennai on Dec 5 , 6 .
