A survey reveals that President Rajapakse is the most popular personality in Sri Lanka.
More than half of the respondents to LMD-TNS Lanka s countrywide poll said they would vote for the President if polls were held now. According to business magazine LMD, the President s third year in office has seen his popularity rise with a clear majority satisfied with his performance as Commander In Chief. It observed that almost 80 percent of those polled felt the President is right in seeking a military solution to eliminate the scourge of terrorism.

Lets hope and pray that the President can bring about a resolution to the present situation with the least amount of suffering possible for all the people of Sri Lanka.
Perhaps the President and his advisers will take heed in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who once said in a very Asian philosophical way: 'Violence begets violence hate begets hate and toughness begets a greater toughness. It is all a descending spiral, and the end is destruction for everybody. Along the way of life, someone must have enough sense and morality to cut off the chain of hate.' |

well seems like people are seeing and hoping the end of the LTTE terrorists... lets hope MR wont put this crowd down.... just like he was popular right now, it will take only a few seconds for him to get unpopular if he does a wrong move at this stage, either it might be military or administrative.... |

NO WONDER!!
IS THAT A SURPRISE??
He is the first elected President of SRI LANKA to tread on the so called LTTE controlled areas.
Ranil-the National traitor- signed a secret pact with the tiger terrorists and gave a big chunk of the most fertile area of the country. The tiger butchers would have got a lot more had Ranil been in power for another few years.
As a brave Son of the Ruhuna, Mahinda Rajapaksha sent his Armies to liberate the terrorist held areas.
So he deserves the highest honor of the People of Sri Lanka!
He has a lot more to do for the country. He needs the unreserved support of all political parties as well as all citizens of SRI LANKA!!

Sri Lanka President is the most popular personality
No surprise! Even Kim Jong Il the North Korean leader is LOVED by the people there despite the misserable lives those people have there and they are even shut out from the rest of the world similar to frogs in a well. With all that Kim Jong Il is the most popular personality in NK.
Things in SL are not as bad as NK. So MR being the popular personality in SL is not a wonder.
Practicing deception on the Nation is the KEY for such popularity!!

Now this worries me, who is the other potential candidate? |

I believe you've gone as far as Korea because you are unable to find an example closer to home, like Prabakaran's peelam, where people are shut down from outside world, but severe food shortages are acknowledged by Prabakaran himself (or has he?) and the leader is NOT LOVED by people. |
