The Tamil Makkal Viduthail Puligal (TMVP) Tuesday said Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) cadres, in an attempt to infiltrate the East, were trying to connect with its cadres in a bid to carry out attacks in the province. TMVP spokesman Azath Maulana said several of its cadres had complained to the party hierarchy of being confronted by the Tigers who were persuading them to rejoin the terror outfit.
However, he said that despite LTTE cadres urging the TMVP cadres to rejoin them, no one would cross over as the membership is loyal to the TMVP and the government. These are failed attempts by the LTTE who are desperately trying to launch attacks against some TMVP members, Maulana said.
Allegations surfaced by Tuesday morning that a few TMVP cadres had fled the organisation to rejoin the Tigers, an allegation which the TMVP said were baseless.
