The DMK has been demanding that India play a proactive role in forcing a ceasefire in Sri Lanka between the army and the Tamil Tiger rebels.
Karunanidhi had warned that all MPs from Tamil Nadu would quit unless New Delhi acted. He was later pacified after External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee specially visited Chennai to explain the steps India has taken on this issue.
He was later pacified
Velu and Karunanidhi both need to be given an atomic pacifier :)

Are these the people who were on a fast????
Namitha wants more temples in her honour
TUTICORIN (Tamil Nadu): Fans are constructing a temple for top Tamil actress Namitha in Tirunelveli district and she says she wouldn't mind more shrines built in her honour.
'This state already has a temple for Khushboo. Fans can go ahead and build more temples for me. I'm a secular person, so my temple too should be open to all religions,' Namitha said at the inauguration of a jewellery store here.

Looks like 50% indian, 50% singlecelled Pooja is crying at the treatment meted to her !
at least tamilians dont demolish temples !
had said no from the beginning. Now it has happened just as I had feared,' laments Pooja repeatedly. What could the matter be? Pooja had recently acted in a Sinhalese film Anjalika. The film was a super hit. The people were enchanted by Pooja. She acted in another Sinhalese film and this added to her popularity. Having been elevated to the status of a goddess, her fans asked her permission to build a temple for her. Pooja refused permission saying, 'In Tamilnadu also, a temple was built for an actress named Khushboo. It was demolished so why invite trouble?'
When did devotees listen to god or goddess? Her fans went ahead and built a temple at a place called Negampo near Colombo. It is not known if pooja or abhishekam took place there. But someone clearly not in favor of the temple built for Pooja, bombed and destroyed the temple. This naturally upset Pooja's fans. That's why Pooja is upset that despite advising against building the temple, her fans had gone ahead and now it lay in ruins.

power cuts still on in TiNadu?
Mix-up of brides due to power cut
5 Sep 2008, 1414 hrs IST, PTI
THENI (TAMIL NADU): Married the wrong girl? At least two grooms in Tamil Nadu can blame it on a power cut.
A black out at a crowded mass marriage venue here at an auspicious moment when about 40 grooms had to simultaneously tie the 'mangal sutra' around their bride's neck led to a mix up with two of them missing the target.
Veerachamy, instead of tying the mangal sutra to Subbulakshmi, the bride, tied it around the neck of her friend, who was standing near her.
Similarly, Balamurugan tied the sacred thread around another girl's neck, instead of Sivakami.
