The Government has underscored that there is no need for an immediate general election. It succeeded in achieving a major victory during voting on the second reading of the budget.
Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva pointed out that they had the strength to face any election. He told journalists that they had no need to dissolve the Parliament specially following the budget. The Second Reading of the Budget has been won with a majority of 42 votes after 20 years. The Government will definitely win the Third Reading too on the 8th of next month. The Government is stable, and it can continue sans going for a general election up to April 2010. Minister Nimal Siripala added that it has been clearly displayed to the country and the world that the Government commands the support of the masses and the majority in Parliament.

This is nonsense. Election should be according to the constitution. PC every 4years, Parliament every 5 years and presidential every 6 years and not according to the horoscope of any individual or Party. Good example is US elections. Specific dates for the election and new appointment. In our case poor school children. Ord Level & Adv. Level Exam dates for students to be rearranged due to this madness.
If we need to progress please avoid these mad ideas form individuals. Think about the progress of the Country.
Elections to be held at correct time according to the Constitution and not the favorable time for any party or according to somebody's astrologer
