How a Chairman of this kind cannot be a traitor?
(Lanka-e-News, November 16, 2008, 4.00 PM) The Chairman and Managing Director of
Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Asantha de Mel is wasting millions of rupees from CPC accounts, `Lanka-e-News` learns.
The Zone 04 of Kolonnawa of CPC recently constructed a unit to measure the fuel level of the oil bowsers at the cost of Rs. 130 million and now the CPC has called tenders for demolishing the unit. The reason for the demolition is that the unit is not up to the expected standards. The pigheaded Chairman has not followed the due standardizing process in construction. The result is the Corporation losing massive amounts of funds due to the wrong construction and for its demolition.
In Zone 07 Kolonnawa of CPC, the Chairman took steps to level and concrete the floor at the cost of Rs. 15.6 million but later the area was abandoned wasting the cost for leveling.
When his official vehicle, a Montero, met with an accident, instead of fixing a new door for the damaged vehicle, the Chairman took steps to purchase a new vehicle.
Meanwhile, the Chairman is now selling diesel for the shipping companies at Rs. 61.62 at a loss. According to workers of CPC, the loss due to this business is 313 dollars per metric ton of diesel.
The `Hedging Gambling` of the CPC Chairman was first exposed by `Lanka-e-News` and later it became a hot issue.
