BABY GIRL BURIED ALIVE IN INDIA SURVIVES AFTER FARMER SEES HAND STICKING OUT OF GROUNDHYDERABAD, India A newborn baby girl was buried alive by her family in southern India on Thursday but was rescued when a farmer saw the baby's hand sticking out of the ground, officials said.
The two-day old baby, who had apparently never been fed, was recovering in a hospital in the Mahbubnagar district of Andhra Pradesh, said Charu Sinha, district superintendent of police.
Indian society has long favored boys, who do not require the enormous dowry payments that bankrupt many poor families when their daughters marry.

Drive against beggars


CHENNAI: Following complaints from residents, the police rounded up over 200 beggars at many public places in the city on Sunday.

As many as 100 policemen and officers in the respective jurisdictions identified areas such as Egmore Railway Station, Central Railway Station, Perambur Railway Station, a few worship places in Mylapore and Triplicane and some shopping malls, bus stops and restaurants in and around Anna Salai where residents faced the problem most.

India has long long banned the foetus scanning to determine its sex..

If you dont know, just google it out !
