Very good to see you. I am not sure if the LTTE is actually waiting for the SLA to go out of steam Chennai. I think the plan appears to be throw all the resources at protecting Kilinochchi. Frankly, i have no idea why they are doing it because that strategy leads to having all the cadres in one place. They would have been better off following tyheir own old tactic of hit and run. the only reason I can think of is VP is not very mobile or does not trust too many people around him
Of course no one knows what the thinking is. But holding on to one city with all the resources is not exactly a very good strategy from a common sense point of view!

He has to capture Kilinochi very soon before the Economic Bombs hit Deep south & all the Gains of GOSL will be melted !
HE wants to showcase Kilinochi as victory & then opt for elections to cement his place as next President !
Whereas Prabha has no race against time & will use his full force at the appropriate time..
Watever Victories they have had are after finding the path of least resistance...
One day it is kilinochi, next day it is Pooneryn...Without any aim,SLA is moving all over !
Why not your President now claim 'VICTORY' if he feels Tigers are routed now ?

What is the difference between what is happening now and the battles fought between the SInhala and Tamil kings a thousand years ago?
when those wars were finally over as this one will be, we had peace and prosperity in Slfor hundreds of years until a new snake appeared some thirty years ago....like elara was dispatched so will velu....at least elara died with dignity.....he would be disgusted with the way that vessi hides like a rat in an underground hole....and elara did not send innocents to the slaughter as velu has done.....elara was a warrior not a psychopath!! |

here is my take on it.
I am no economist, but the Sri Lankan economy has been under severe strain for over a decade now. Not necessarily it is all due to the war either. It is partly corruption, embezzlement and in some cases too many elections. Economic woes did not stop the military thrust. I am not suitably qualified to even talk about how the economy is doing but all I can see is that the GOSL is continuing the militarty push.
Of course VP is running out of time. let us face it, how many 'final pushes' has he had. he had like 'final push' in 2003 too. he is now fighting Ealam war 8, episode 10, scene III! how many years can he play this con game? he has delivered nothing and still talking about a final push having lost much of the territory.

I think you got that one wrong. It is important to cut down all possible supply routes and I think (again i am not an insider so I can not vouch), SLA got the LTTE wrong footed. i think they talked a lot about Kili, got the LTTE to shift focus to Kili and captured Pooneryn. i knmow some journos have stated that it is not an important point, but let me suure you both the LTTE and the Army know how important Pooneryn is. That was a big loss to the LTTE and I am surprised how easily that fell.
President can not claim victory. Until a political solution is arrived at there is no victory.
