The military was on high alert for several hours in Vavuniya and its suburbs last morning after a suspected LTTE aircraft appeared in the radars in Vavuniya.

A top defence official said that around 3.30 am yesterday, radars in Vavuniya detected an object, which was later identified as an LTTE aircraft proceeding from LTTE controlled Iranamadu proximately two kilometres into cleared areas in Vavuniya.

Military establishments in the area up to Mannar, Anuradhapura and Welioya were immediately alerted to face any emergency.

However, the aircraft disappeared from the radars after it reached some two kilometres close to Vavuniya. Since then there were no clues about the aircraft though the military was on high alert for few more hours.

The Military believed that the suspected aircraft had returned to un-cleared areas flying at low altitude to avoid being detected by air force radars.

Last week two LTTE light air craft bombed both the Kelanitissa power station in Colombo and Talladi army camp in Mannar, causing considerable damages to the power station.

spetnaz they already got those radars /biut moadayas

The time now was 11.23 p.m. on Tuesday. The Chinese built 3-D radar at Mirigama and the Indian 2-D radar at Katunayake Air Force base had the approaching aircraft on their screens. Radars are used to detect aircraft, vehicles, ships or other objects through the transmission of electromagnetic waves, which are reflected back by the object. A 2-D radar gives distance and direction whilst 3-D radar would

Really pathetic isn't it?

More radars? More planes? More soldiers? More defence budget? More, more, more more...............

80 percent of the LTTE is finished according to Ponnaseka but yet next year's defence budget is the biggest ever.
