US, UK and Australia are Federal states - Prosperity is mainly due to autonomous decentralisation - devolution.
Sri Lanka is a Unitary State - Poor begging Banana Republic
If the ultra nationalist SL president adopt the policies of those countries US, Canada, Australia and UK, that you ignorantly quoted there would be no Ethnic Problem in Sri Lanka.
True Federal set ups will guarantee an independent autonomous governance to provinces, that's all the minorities demand since 1956, the year of Sinhala Only Act.
You may not know that in those countries the leaders PM or Presidents cannot dissolve the state/provincial governments or sack the premiers, 1st Ministers or CMs.
The Language Issue
In the E and N of SL the police and army force non-Sinhala speaking people to sign reports written ONLY in Sinhala, whereas in THOSE countries a newly arrived immigrant or refugee or even an assylum seeker, is given a translator /Interpreter to help with English. That's all the Ethnic communities are crying for in Sri Lanka.
You must learn to argue on substances rather than hide behind your racist slogans such as 'Toilets', 'Peelams', and other self-degrading slogans.

But explain to me why, while Sinhalese who do have a Buddhist Sinhala Country are permanently located all over the globe in Countries like USA, Canada, London and AUSTRALIA?
Isn't their country appealing to rear children after all? Funny how you make such statements and call yourself AUSSIBOY!
Oh! I'm sorry... i didn't know that we're not allowed to live in other countries! Or is it that, only a race of people that don't have their own country, is allowed to live in foriegn countries??
What a backward mentality!
Oh, by the way, I was born in Australia... and though my name is 'aussieboy', don't get too attached to my name... I only chose it to differentiate myself on a SL site!

Sinhala Only Act was enacted in 1956.
VP came into the political secene after 25 years of Sinhala Only Act and anti-communal riots.
There were communal riots aroused by Opposition Paties and Sinhala Buddhist Monks.
There were no peace during the period of Sinhala ONLY Act, 52 years of ethnic divide,
1. Period of peaceful protests - 1956 - 1982
2. Period of armed rebellion mainly by LTTE - 1983 - 2008
There was no peace even before the birth of LTTE and its leader VP. |

You are right.. Solomon B. the b'stard created all this problem.. Sinhala Only Act is what divided the nation and created ethnic problems, then it finished as a Black July 83 that really started the war.

There is no such country called 'eelam'... so what country are you talking about? Tamil Nadu (tamil homeland) is not even a country, but it's the closest thing to one! So i got no idea why some dumbies keep refering to 'eelam' as a country! If you really want a tamil country, why don't you make it from Tamil Nadu... it is your true homeland!

Live anywhere you want, none of my concerns but don't make such contradictory statements. It's kinda ironic to say Tamils don't have a country to live while Sinhalese live as our neighbors in countries outside SL! |
