but I have books in my car to keep me occupied. It is small sacrifice we make
We make bigger sacrifices. Those of us who accept it as administration contribute to safety through those sacrifices and I believe this is why I have not been hurt accidentally. My safety karma protects me.
But the bus drivers do not feel inclined to read. May be they need additional remuneration for 'waiting' - otherwise by cursing they accumulate safety risks. |

A quick history lesson: When Captain Cook landed in Australia, he documented that the Aborigines were 'no-mads', meaning they were travellers... the aborigines had no leadership structure and were only living off the land, but did not 'own' it. They belonged to individual tribes, and moved around. According to British law at the time, they recognised the Aborigines as having no ownership of the land, hence the British 'settled' in Australia. Unlike new zealand, etc., there was no fight... The British never 'conquered' Australia.
After colonisation, the British viewed the Aborigines on a similar level to 'wild animals', hence they were shot at and killed, or were being used as servent, etc. And during the assimilation policy in the 1950s, the Australian government caused the stolen children issues. There were many mistakes and suffering caused to the Aboriginal people, and most of them relate back to the fact that the first settlers catagorized the Aborigines as no-mads...
Anyway, it's for all this suffering and generations of destruction that the Australians said sorry to the Aborigines!
But my question is, what do the Aborigines have to do with Sri Lanka?? :) |

Pamela,
May be you need to reduce the safety threat for the drivers of buses and towards this travel by public transport as I did - instead of the car. That way you have the direct experience and we will be connected by common faith. |

Compared to what the SLDF is sacrificing on our behalf, I feel ashamed to be sitting in a traffic jam
If you were a fair minded person you would appreciate that Tamils likewise feel about LTTE. There are no calculations of rights adn wrongs. It's faith and trust based. |

Moda Thinker does not know that Americans dont call England as their Home land & so does the Australians....
and surprise, surprise! what do they have in common?
they are invaders, and uprooted the traditional owners from their lands and renamed the countries to suit them!
hmm... come to think of it.. moda thinker hits dejavu! this sounds familiar...
this sounds like Eezham?
Chennair thanks for bringing that out. |

Aussie,
A parallel can be made between British and Singhalas !
They came and claimed !
Same happened in USA, millions of native red Indians were killed..Now .. There are only a few and do not possess their traditional lands ! |

I believe that if the southern political parties, that form the majority, do not accept a political solution then we can t implement it. I don t want to thrust a solution on parties.
that is why all sinhala leaders are trying to eliminate ltte so that there is no pressure for them to offer and implement a political solution. they can simply say southern political parties dont like it so he cant do anything about that.
is it clear now why tamils are supporting ltte?
If I can have all the parties agree to a solution to solve the problem it would be appreciated by the people. Otherwise there will be riots and no Government will be able to implement it, the President noted.
that means the current war is the solution for the ethnic problem.?
but many countries including India say war is not the solution for ethnic problem in sl. |
