Anandasangaree tells President to stop de-merger

TULF President V. Anandasangree has told President Mahinda Rajapaksa the demerger of the North-East Province was untimely.

?If you are serious about all our people irrespective of their ethnicity enjoying all rights like others, please stop further action on the de-merger and maintain the status quo? the TULF leader told the President in a letter sent to him on Tuesday.

? Having failed these 50 years to find a solution in a unitary state, the only option left is a federal solution within a united Sri Lanka. The international community welcomes it and the local Tamils too. The LTTE is also fully aware that the international community will oppose separation tooth and nail and that the LTTE should agree to a federal solution?, he said.

Encouraging some to steal

We send this to you because we believe you are interested in removing from our midst the culture of people in position stealing by design the country's resources using their official positions in a position to rob - an exercise by which eventually every single person of this country - rich, middle class or poor - are called upon to pay. You will recall recently that it was alleged that a mere Provincial Councillor was under investigation for having accumulated assets far in excess of his known sources of income. It has also been alleged that inspectors of police and principals of nondescript schools have invested several million rupees with Sakvithi Finance - just to give you one example.

This culture , that started in a small way around the late 1980's, reached adulthood during 1994/2000 and as been stated has increased now.

How about serving the country and the people? It has been said that although petrol can be marketed at less than Rs.60 per litre the government is unwilling to reduce from Rs 157.

It is well known that prices are inflated from those obtaining in Colombo - in some cases over 200% - which is perhaps why the Jaffna people are in near- starvation condition for many months now.

What should be done, in the name of good governence , is to give life to those sacrosanct provisions of the AR's and FR of govt purchase procedure. These tenders should be publicly announced and experienced and knowledgeable officials of unquestionable integrity appointed members of these Tender Boards.

Tenders should be awarded on the basis of the lowest price or, if otherwise, under conditions that can be rationally explained.

Any government should have no compunction in following this decent procedure, which we in this country faithfully did during those years when officialdom was not polluted. .Then it was gentlemen and educated Ministers and able officials who will neither bend nor break in the face of filthy lucre.

Please use your good influences to bring back the country to its rails and save it from the nauseating depths of corruption it has been led into, which is far more destructive than the so-called ethnic war.

We are sending copies to the ambassadors of the USA, Japan and the E/U: HC's of Britain, Canada, Australia and India, Editors of leading newspapers, political leaders and key officials - former and now - with the hope all these friends will help to rid this country of the deadly scourge of corruption.

Lankans for Clean Transparent and
Corruption-free Governance

Anandasangaree tells President to stop de-merger

TULF President V. Anandasangree has told President Mahinda Rajapaksa the demerger of the North-East Province was untimely.

But the president has told he is against federalism but impose Unitarism on the minorities. LTTE is the only opposition to his agenda, so, attempts are made to weaken LTTE at an enormous cost to the economy.

Dog Biscuit man is talking of HUMAN rights...

No rights for his bstard child :((

Pera, with all due respect, Berty seems to be refraining from personal attacks on you these days or retaliating, and is maintaining a studios silence. This is the correct approach.

Perhaps you should do the same and just let him be. It's all unnecessary and it does not show you in good light.

Let the man be now.

Your an intelligent man - just focus on destroying the dumb peelamists views instead of personal attacks, despite past history and who is right or who is wrong or who started it etc.
