The main drain on the treasury has been the government s renewed communal war against the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) as well as the high cost of fuel and food imports. Since President Mahinda Rajapakse restarted the war in mid-2006, defence spending has jumped from 96 billion rupees for 2006 to 167 billion rupees for 2008 a rise of more than 70 percent.

SL has been living on aid and loans but cannot continue any longer.

MR must abandon enforcing Unitary State that destroyed Sri Lanka for the last 60 years and consider a genuine federal or Confederal model accommodate the persecuted minorities.

Student killed in Sri Lankan airstrikeA 16-year-old boy was killed with his arm blown off and 17-year-old girl seriously injured in the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) bombing the civilian settlement in Va'l'lipunam in Puthukkudiyiruupu division in Mullaiththeevu district, Thursday morning. SLAF kfir jet fighters dropped eight bombs in two sorties in the aerial strike that lasted from 9:15 a.m to 9:30 a.m, sources in Puthukkudiyiruppu said. Four houses of the residents of the area were destroyed in the bombing.

	Come on, why is every body against Sri Lanka? We are the Aryan Buddhsit Singhalese, the highest race in the world, don't every body should bow down to us and serve us. It is discriminatory. We are a state run by terrorists and we demand that every body obey us or elase we will send our army all over the world. Forgive me I am lillte bit insane today.

	AB, deciding day three to 3rd test and to LNP Team. Yeah, i know... Toyota is now on top, and Lion just did a big jump of a couple of positions and he has trumps on Mishra, so he might be moving up some more... Let's see how it goes today... I have trumps on Clarke and i think Ponting will put up a fight... but Kumble and Mishra should do damage (both of whom i don't have on my team!)

Basil agreed to allow the TN fishermen to come and fish in some areas lankan waters.. soon there will be an agrement.
We sold our sea now to India.. Karunanithi is happy.

Of course Karunanidhi is happy! His daughter is also happy... Even Vaiko, who was jailed is happy. All, because GOSL backed off..now the sea between India and TE is basically controled by TN-TE Alliance (TTA).

Modayaas still do not know it, even the attack planes that devestated part of Colombo and Manar SLA HQ flew from a secret location in TN, with full knowledge of RAW. Again this is part of TTA.

The Indian radar operators were asked to look the other way during TAF rampage. Again TTA played a role.
