120 refugees were admitted after snake-bite during the past 7 days alone in Ki`linochchi district`s hospital functioning at Tharmapuram. One of the patients, a girl, has died and another, a 53-year-old woman, was being treated at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital, according to Dr. P. Brighton, the assistant Deputy Provincial Director of Health (DPDH) on Tuesday. He said three lorries with urgently needed medicines to treat snake-bite and diarrhea have not entered Vanni despite three repeated attempts to cross the entry/exit point at Oamanthai in Vavuniyaa. Meanwhile, ambulance-transport for patients in need of urgent medical treatment at Vavuniyaa hospital has become increasingly difficult.

120 refugees were admitted after snake-bite during the past 7 days

apart from the girl and the old woman, the other 118 patients must be LTTE cadres.

And the snake-bites may actually be bullet bites !

120 refugees were bitten by snakes. the LTTE must have lined up people, n send one by one to a chamber full of snakes to get bitten. next week they will send another 100 to hospitals who's been bitten by velu's snake.

I must be missing something here. How can 120 (or a large number of people all at once) get snake bites?

There are snakes in the area but for a large number of people to be bitten it must have been a herd of snakes attacking civilians!

this article can not be right or we have a distorted version here.

Is this Dr. Brighton a Sinhalese, Tamil or a Muslim? Sounds like a made up cock and bull story to me.
This might even be a coded message to a tiger cell in Colombo, who knows?
