Increase in Defence expenditure for the next financial year and recruitment of soldiers indicate that the govt itself DO NOT believe what they about the imminent fall of LTTE. The president and his hardline appointees are dishonest in misguiding and misleading the people into believing the impossible.
What happened in 1998 under CBK is about to repeat and the poor youths from the South and Northeast are going to be sacrificed.
May be in anticipation of a stalemate in the military jingoism that MR is talking about 'negotiation'. |

| Well, now SLA is in Jeyapuram. Next they will advance to Sempankundu, 3 km North of Jeyapuram. If Sempankundu falls into the hands of SLA, LTTE lose all supply routes to Nachchikuda and get trpped for target practice. So now, for LTTE, Sampankundu is more important than Nachchikuda and most possibly they will withdraw from Nachchikuda to reinforce Sempankundu. At least then they can protect Poonaryn. But once Nachchikuda has been captured, SLA will move fast their MBRLs to Chunnavil, even all the way upto Jeyapuram, the ideal location to support ground troops in Poonaryn on North and Kilinochchi on East. As I speculated earlier, SLA will be in out skirts of Poonaryn for the Halloween. |

Will this be suffice to impose Unitary State on the minorities?
Or will the govt wait to defeat LTTE altogether before imposing his Unitary State and separate N- and E- Provincial Councils that empower the sole executive power and money control with the president (always a Sinhalese) at the centre? |
