home land or no home land, ltte or no ltte, arms struggle or no arms struggle, separation or no separation, federal or no federal, quasi federal or con federal the point is how to avoid/stop the repeat of 1983 and the land grabbings.
so in jayalalitha's words , she supports the self determination for the Tamils in the area.....we claim as it is ours...
first if you look for the definition of self determination in the Cambridge dictionary.. it says....
Definition
self-determination noun U
the ability or power to make decisions for yourself, especially the power of a nation to decide how it will be governed i hope jayalalitha do know the meaning of *self determination* before she made the statement...
for any one to govern the people they claim as theirs, there should be an area with the clear control lines there on the first place and that will be the *home land* she mentions and we will call it a Tamil home land or tamileelam which should not really bother you,,should it??
so i disagree with your translation of jayalalitha's words.
secondly ...regarding the arms struggle.. hmmmmmmm.. it is a long story..you already know, what she means at this stage is that , there should have been no arms struggle for the purpose of archiving the desired political end on the first place but it is too late at this stage and she wants to see the end to it with a political solution which means separation or no separation, both warring parties need to sit down to sign a document to kill off the fighting.

and here comes the Economic Genius... who thinks that this country survives on Marie Biscuits, Jam and Apparel exports only!!
Sometimes I wonder about these Indians... hence the reason I will not even touch a Maruti or a TATA even if I have to walk a 1000 miles.
Someone JUST LIKE Chennai put that thing together. |

Looks like Eelam Bride is getting more competition for their heart from the Potential two Bridegrooms !
CHENNAI: The All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary Jayalalithaa on Thursday urged the Union government to mobilise relief materials for Sri Lankan Tamils who were suffering without food, clothing, shelter or medicines.
In a statement, she said in the ongoing conflict in Sri Lanka, thousands of innocent civilian Tamils had been displaced. They had been rendered homeless and were living as refugees in their own homeland. They are struggling without food, medicines and shelter. Women and children are forced to bear the brunt of these problems. This situation has been in existence for several months now, the AIADMK leader said.
Ms. Jayalalithaa criticised Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi for not displaying enough commitment to the cause of the Sri Lankan Tamils.
