I don't know! :) It's difficult to predict the markets... i mean, the mining giants of Australia are still doing quite well, so as long as they are going, the economy shouldn't suffer, but i would never have guessed that the Aussie markets would have suffered soo much as it has... but when there's instability in the markets, all markets suffers... so my guess would be that if the Americans can stablize them, the rest of the world should manage and will fight back, but if america enters a recession, it's hard to guess how the rest of the world will react.
Anyway, as long as there is instablity, the traders are scared off... so whatever happens, the markets need to stablize, and i think the aussie markets should be able to fight back strongly especially because of the mining companies who are large and solid).
Anyway, during the earlier Aust. recession, I was too young to understand it, so i didn't really feel the crunch... but right now, i have a mortage to pay off and I've collected enough money for investing... which I might need to put on hold now (don't know because I'm looking to do housing investments, so i'll need to wait and see how the housing market is affected by all this!) Anyway, I'm not into the share market, so i'm not really affected right now, but all of our superannuation funds invest in shares, so that's a bit scary... but i'm young, so i really can't touch my super for a long time anyway... |

In 1946 the Sinhalese : Tamil speaking populations in the East was
6% : 94%
In 1981 the ratio was altered to
32% : 68%
How was it achieved?
Tamil population % went up during 19th & 20th century due to a wave of migration from Tamil Nadu to north & east.
How can you justify that. They were not event Sri Lankans.
What's wrong with Sinhalese who lived in this island from ancient time settling in north & east.

PM DS Senanayaka wanted to spend govt money to sponsor Sinhalese peasants into settlements in the North and East in order to increase the parliamentary representation of the majority community.
In 1949 DSS also did another injustice to the blood letting and sweat shedding upcountry Tamils by disenfranchising them to increase the Sinhalese MPs by 7 overnight.
These are carefully manipulated ethnic cleansing of Tamil speaking communities.
In the backdrop of current eelam demands, we are much better of asking all the recent Tamil migrants to go back to Tamil Nadu. |

This is just BS. There were few migration, due to marrages and such, but not the 'wave' you talking about. Most of the Tamils in Tamil Eelam area were decendents of Tamils who had lived there for thousands of years! |
