Kiwi,
Aussie boy!! Maybe you are a compassionate sinhalese gentlemen. Unfortunately all my sinhala friends especially in Canberra belong to SPUR.
I know some members of SPUR, and i remember when SPUR was formed... I think people just wanted a way to help the injuried soliders, their families and other civilans that were affected by the war...
Your view about a terrorist outfit is well taken. But, sadly that is not a view seen as fact from a Tamil perspective. History shows us that both communities did live in harmony in the past. So why suddenly this situation the last 30 yrs?...why the ethnic riots?
I admit that the ethnic riots should not have taken place and it was caused by bad government decisions, which i totally disagree with! But right now, we are dealing with terrorism, and it doesn't matter what excuses exist, Sri Lanka should not be divide into 2 seperate states and terrorists should not be allowed to rule by the gun and their terror tactics!
I also am not in total agreement about the EAST?...I am not sure they have been liberated!!...To me a viable political solution acceptable to all communities is Liberation.
I also believe that the Sinhala populace in the south have to be liberated from those who have only nationalistic views and nothing else...not to mention corruption and disappearances.
Ok, with the east... already the east is prospering from it's liberation! I understand that there might be some die-hard LTTErs around or that new LTTE fighters maybe sent to the east to cause some damage, but without LTTE controlled land and bases, the east is liberated and people can travel freely, etc. and the east will grow... already there is talk of cricket and other productive development being planned right across the liberated areas! No doubt that these sorts of developments will help to integregate the east with the rest of SL... and i'm sure the LTTE will try and disrupt things here and there, but they will be taken care of when it arises... but right now, do you not see that the eastern people are much better off?
Regarding a political solution, i agree that something needs to be done, but right now, we need to disarm this terrorist organisation, and put some tamil representatives into parliament! They should be voted in by the tamil people (freely) and should represent the tamil people democratically! You can't just wield your guns around and claim to be the 'sole representatives' and then kill anyone else who disagrees with you! |

Eelamaya!!
are you sure about your comments, I have a feeling that the moment Eelam is declared the Tamils will kill each other. This will be done in the name of caste and creed and most of all GREED!!
remember the days when our parents would serve tea to certain people in coconut shells...The ERA of SHAME!...I dont think we have learnt anything.
i was in jaffna visiting my old school in 2003. the people there amidst adversity showed courage but also showed that the caste divide was well and truly alive. |

| Diaspora are trying to create a Tamil genocide for benefits of their own. Why? Because the Tamils they left behind in Sri Lanka are lesser to them. So the poor souls deserve to die inorder to make the dreams of the diaspora come true. Take the Islamic millitants. Whether one agrees with their ideology or not, they left the comforts of the first world to fight for their people. Can you find one of the Tamil diaspora who left first world comforts to fight for the Tamil Tigers? |

Mahawansaya,
Why did Australia cut rates dramatically ?
I think it's because the Aussie dollar against USD has dropped in value sharply, so people are holding their AUD more, hence the banks have a surplus of AUD, and as a result, the Reserve bank of Aust. decided to lower their interest rates!

Sinhalese have been severly discriminated and ethnically clensed. Inspite of that we have advanced and adopted the uncivilized Tamils in to our land and even to Parliament.
Its time GOSL settle millions of desparate Sinhalese who became poor by paying for Tamils thru taxes and became victims to LTTEZP .settle or given land ownership.
They can not delay.
What about teh Sinhala Army who gave their everything to liberate Tamisl from Inhuman tamils ?
They must be compansated. |

I know... it will need an effort to realize the full potential of Tamil Nation. An effort similar to the liberation war must be launched to liberate the Tamil people from the narrow mind set as well! |

Will Sinhala racism be quenched by the defeat of LTTE?
Tamils think defeating their saviours will strengthen the racists attitudes of Sinhala Buddhist monks and hardliners like racists Sareth Fonseka, and Rajapakse brothers.
Whose victory?

Yet for many Tamils in Jaffna, the Tigers imminent defeat is cause less for relief than for foreboding. Many worry that without them Sinhalese hegemony will become more entrenched. An elderly Tamil man, a lifelong resident of Jaffna, says that on a typical day his car is stopped at numerous checkpoints. A soldier sticks his gun through the window and barks questions in Sinhala, knowing full well he is Tamil. Many Tamils think they know the answer to the old man s question: Will this attitude change once the fighting ends? |

An effort similar to the liberation war must be launched to liberate the Tamil people from the narrow mind set as well! Don't worry, I think Prabha's operation 'Brainwash' has been successful in certain segments of the population. At least, that's what I see on LNP. |
