Karnatic music uth wada karanne nathi patai!
the Q should be why it is called karnatic music why not bharatha music..
the point is whether it is a bharatha music or karnatic music , it was sung using Dravidian languages in the modern states tamilnadu, Andra Pradesh, Kannada and kerala. the carnatic music was revived and took shape under the patronage of the kings of the Mysore kingdom in the modern state karnataka how ever the origins of the karnatic music is traced to tanjavoor in TN.
to the point why karnatic music was not called bharatha music is because there in the north they have the kind of music influenced by the Persians presently called the Hindustani music unlike the bharathanatyam which is originated and flourished in TN unique to all India.
bha= bhavam
ra=raagam
ta=taalam.
natyam=dance.
the overall point is, the music which originated in the south of india needed to be given a common name. so they may have decided to call it *karnatic music* as it was only revived by the kings of mysoor kingdom in karnadaka.
