If LTTP is winning why they build canals to DEFEND?

well, if the army is moving to poonakary from nachchikuda, then they will have difficulties coming out of the canal alive..

the ltte need to concentrate on the other sides to defend it. i guess they would have some other delaying tactics and killing traps .

if poonakary falls to the army means falling elephant pass. it seem the immediate intention of the gosl is to capture the areas between the A9 and A32 , A32 which runs along mannar to connect jaffna. connecting a land route to jaffna means the army in jaffna are quite safer in terms of supplies and in the case of evacuation compare to the situation prevailing now. (remembering two elephant pass debacles) and some people believe that the ltte is smuggling essentials from TN to continue the fight, if captured ltte will struggle for supplies,, India can formulate a mechanism to joint patrol the palk straight(fishermans are safe), dig for oil in mannar..ect ect..

The first convoy of 51 UN vehicles carrying supplies to the displaced civilians have entered the war zone. Now that is good news.

The original 60 vehicles have been reduced to 51 because they have found explosives inside some trucks to be delivered to the terrorists. So this is how they do 'freedom fighting'. The priority is to take care of the people, not to use their food vehicles to smuggle arms. Interesting breed of freedom fighters arent they!

The story is on Reuters (which as far as i know is not funded by the GOSL). Link below.

As a Sri Lankan I am glad that the civilians are getting food and other necessities. The LTTE should allow them to go to Vavuniya where AID agencies have facilities to take care of them already.

LTTE's tactics are working. SLDF's are going get in to their swimming trunks and dive in to the canal as soon as they get there :)

I will relay your message to Rasaiiah Illankan next time he becomes AVAILABLE

The U.N. said it 'condemned the attempt by persons unknown to disrupt the aid effort' by placing the illegal cargo on trucks provided by the government.

exactly, if the ZTTP are as strong as they claim to be, they should release the civilians into the Aid agencies hands and allow killingnochi to host the 'final war'.

This is because the SLAF bombed and took out their Civilian Admin facility. If those folks were active, none of this monkey business would happen.

Now i found out why sarath has given a revised figure of 4000 ltte carders are remaining. that is 65OO carders killed according to govt minus 1509 carders killed according to ltte.

if sldf really believe what they have reported as ltte casualty then they will be pretty surprised when ltte hammers.

actually it is not a canal but similar to canal without any water.. in the rainy seasons you cannot avoid.. (it is more like a well dug defense line..
