the same article says
The Government has reached the final stage of the war against LTTE terrorism, the Government Information Department quoted Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa as telling the BBC World Service.

Airing his views to the BBC World Service, the Defence Secretary has said that the troops are only 4.5 kms away from the LTTE heartland of Kilinochchi.

Sadly they are still 4.5 Kms away..that was the same place they were 2 weeks ago..

Eelamaya

This is from Tamilnet...

At least one of the civilians killed was at his house in the vicinity. Most of the bombs missed their targets and the SLAF bombers disappeared from the sky as they came under LTTE
anti-aircraft fire.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
However, the buildings have sustained heavy damage as each of the buildings were hit by at least one bomb.

I think SLDF should stop marching forward...
They must stay put and
SLAF should rain brimstone and sulfur day and night on Kili !

Let the Peelamists stew in their own juice!

Around eight acres of forest area in Opanayake was destroyed following a bush fire that broke out around 10.00 am yesterday (Oct. 01st).

Police said that the fire brigade, supported by villagers, blaze was brought under control by noon and doused by around 3.00 pm.

The Disaster Management Centre said the fire had been caused by the heavy drought in the area for the past month.
