I do not want to call myself a Sinhala even though my parents are. I proudly call myself a British.
Now look at this statement.
Sinhala -Tamil-Irish-English-Scot etc are ethnicities- determined by parentage- ability of someone to discard it is a bit dubious.
Sri Lankan-British- Indian etc. etc are Nationalities.
Now replacing one's natural ethnicity for a nationality -like Deepika does - ( Sinhala changed to British) ... well , doesn't sound quite natural/rational/or downright possible - !
You can be a Sinhala Brit -Tamil Sri Lankan etc.
What made you make this move- Dislike /hatred/contempt for Singhalese?

Have you done anything to protect the alternative voices in Sinhala community? You can do a lot nowadays.
of course, of course doing a lot these days. Even tried to promote RanilW among our peelamist friends here.
may be scared of white van ride or simply racist.
I love white vans, I prefer the colour. Nothing racist, you might not know, I have few Tamil friends in Toronto too. Once I said even here that I had one friend from Chunnakam, a Tamil Buddhist.
