There is no doubt Sri Lanka has been the largest per capita recipient of Japan's bilateral aid. Question is who will be the biggest losers 'IF' Japan cuts aid to SL? As far as we know Japan has not provided any military aid to Sri Lanka. Therefore Military will not be affected. However, Japan has made significant contributions towards development activities in Sri Lanka in various sectors and especially in North and East. For example last year Japan granted $3.2 million in assistance for accelerating mine-clearing work in Sri Lanka's war-torn Northern and Eastern provinces. They also funded various mid to long term economic development projects and other projects to eradicate poverty. The biggest beneficiaries of these projects have been the tamils in North East. If our tamil friends think this move will bring mono-ethnic 'Eelam State' any closer to you. Think twice!!

This was the lame excuse that the illegal White Supremacist South Africans came up with when blacks wanted the outer world to impose sanctions against that regime.

It was the economic embargo that brought down the white regime of South Africa.

Tamils will not be worse off, they are under the inhuman embargo of food and medicine following the closure of A9. Aerial bombing, abductions and seizure of even the vitamin biscuits by the army in Madawachiya, which the UNESCO transported to the starving children of the North must be stopped at once.

In the previous visits to Sri Lanka Japan's envoy Akashi refused to listen to the Human Rights Watch and other NGOs hoping against the hope that SRi Lankan govt will become reasonable, investigate the human rights violations committed by the Security Forces and paramilitaries and abandon military jingoism.

This govt is led by the hardliners such as JHU, JVP and his MR's new appointees and no sign of wiser counsel even prevail.

If Japan cuts aid, thoppi thamai to the SL economy. Japan is well aware of this and thats why it is making this kind of threats.

The sinhala hooters like Vini and Eskimo will have to do overtime in their KFC kitchens to feed the soldiers and buy the arms to fight the Tigers.LOL

'We could be forced to review our aid policy if military action keeps escalating,....

Why don't they just cut the crap and stop the aid to the GOSLow beggars, what more atrocities do they need to see, what possible interest could Japan or any other IC have in that hell-hole of a country.
