I think he realizes that now, that's why he said everything about Gothabhaya connection. The Sinhalese can't be trusted based on our past experiences with them. They have been cheating the Tamils from the days of Ellalan.
Ellalan trusted Duttu Gemunu to be a decent human being and opted for the one on one fight, even though he was an old man compared to Duttu Gemunu - a virile young man. But that Sinhalaya Duttu Gemunu cheated Ellalan by killing him, when he was falling from the elephant, which was against the rules of fighting in those days.
Cheating is in the Sinhala gene, they can't be trusted and Prabhakaran understood this very well, that's why the Sinhalayas can't cheat or outsmart him.

same thing happen to Velu when he was falling from Ranil Elephant... Karuna left him :)))))
Apperently Elephants also bring bad luck to Tamils :)))))
