OK this is the solution in my view.

Peace and freedom for Sinhalese, Tamils, Muslims.

The main issue Sri Lanka face today is the Sinhalese & Tamil extremism ignited by the politically ambitions sections of the society. They are less than 1% of the society.

In simple terms, the aspiration of 99% majority is to have a family, a job and a peaceful live. In other words the political aspiration of 99% majority of Tamils, Sinhalese & Tamils is to have a family, a job and a peaceful life.

The politically ambitious minority 1% use history & homeland concept to achieve their selfish objective. They fail to understand that every citizen has equal rights and equal ownership of Sri Lanka.

What this politically ambitious extremist need is power - the ability to rule other. They promise the Tamils & Sinhalese masses that they can deliver better life for them

But the question is whether the extremist have the ability do that. In my view the extremist can never deliver goods they promise. In a multi cultural society like Sri Lanka, it is only the moderate leaders that can unite all communities and win the confidence of the 99% majority can deliver goods.

In our post independent history in my view we had three leader who had the wisdom and vision to do this difficult task. They are President Premadasa, Lakshaman Kadiragama & DS Senanayake.

To achieve peace and prosperity the brightest Sri Lankan should be given power. Lack of vision & inefficiency is due to fact that best Sri Lankans brains does not have political power at the moment.

We should have a system similar to Singapore where the country is managed by the best people.

What Sri Lanka need is a leader with a vision who can find the best brains and give them the power to work. We need civil servants like Paskarlingam, HJ Wijedasa engineers like A N Kulasinghe, brilliant economists, Planners Architect etc.

What we don't need is the political extremists and political activists. The 1% political extremist needs to be defeated militarily, ideologically and politically to give freedom to all Sri Lankans. The extremist in today's context are LTTE, JVP & JHU.

We also need to defeat the so called political activist ideologically. People like Vickramabahu Karunarathne, Sumanasiri Liyanage who are prisoners of their ideology that is suited to 1950s.

Sri Lanka needs to develop an ideology that is suited to Sri Lanka and 21st century. An ideology taking into consideration the new technologies. In brief, the first priority is to built a highway to Jaffna which can be 350km long. It could be only 3.5hr-4hr journey to Jaffna from Colombo. Use the power of the internet. Allow the people who live in remote parts of Sri Lanka to do their activities without leaving home.

Devolution of power to the 1% extremist will not bring peace and freedom for Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims. Power in the hands of fools means nothing.

Devolution of power to the brightest non-extremist Sinhalese, Tamils & Muslim will bring long lasting peace & freedom for all Sri Lankans.

Let us know when that happens, so far all we see is some used Hindian toilet paper, which was already rejected by the Tamils :):)

APRC 'approves' 13 amendment in Sri Lanka

How can you say this when the oldest party in the country UNP was not a party to it, JVP the most raciest party in the land was not a party to it, TNA the representatives of the Tamil and Muslim areas were not represented.

So this is like the constitution. Tamils were no part of it and do not consider they are bound by it other than to challenge those responsible for it. 'Ura ga mas, Ura ga peta thiyan kapanawa'.

You can name a certain administration PC, DC or whatever but unless it has real power this wont be worth the paper it is written on.

One thing is clear. Nothing can satisfy LTTE goons other than eelam itself. Proposal should focus on satisfying majority of common people, not a bunch of terrorist / hooligans with extreme ideologies, may it be LTTE or JVP.

This is what many were asking for, a political solution with more power devolution which is not a bad thing for the country as a whole. It can help us in many ways from civil unrest to socio-economic development. It is the burden of the govt to convince the general public and IC on the positives of this proposal.

When Mervin Silva rules and no JHU, nobody in the Sinhala state cannot control him, you are talking about something that Sinhalese will never be able to implement.

First, Sinhalese who makes the majority, must learn to earn the respect of minorities and rest of the worls. That is what Singapore did. So, you should get some Sinhalese to clean up the house first. Then your idea may work!
