Look, despite claims by GOSL, East seems to be still under LTTE control, at least most of the East. So, my question was what had SLA achieved? Why did they let an armed group kill innocent civilians in area under their control?
c'mon man.. in the US al-qaeda has carried out major attacks bu having smaller units... does that mean US is under al-qaeda control??
For some pointers on what SLA has achieved in the east was completely take out ltte's ability to launch any major offensives in those areas by taking out all their heavy weaponry, taking out all their hospitals and other medical facilities, take out their training camps and other camps and bases, take out all the defence lines they have made and bunkers etc...
LTTE only has small group presence there and all there despits what you wan to believe... |

Police excuse to the 'Sinhala Tigers' of Ranminithenna
(Lanka-e-News, 2008 Jan 17, 7.00 PM) Southern Province Police Special Investigation Unit had said to the Parents Collective of Ranminithenna Tiger Suspects that the six arrested persons were innocent, police were sorry for assaulting them and the LTTE had conducted the abductions and killings, said Mr. W.A. Piyasena of the Collective to Lanka-e-News.
The officials of the unit have told that they will instruct the Officer-in-Charge of the Thissamaharama police station to produce them in courts and to release.
The Collective complained to the Human Rights Commission and the Amnesty International also issued a communiqu-65533 in this regard.
Lanka-e-News revealed the story of the Sinhala Tigers of South for the first time exposing the police attempt to obtain forcible confessions from the arrested people through torture.

Unlike any other terrorist outfit in the world, LTTE has been careful enough to not to claim responsibility for any of its heinous crimes committed against Sri Lanka citizens.
What a nice story ..............what more do you need . Go kill anyone you want and blame it on the LTTE. Sorry it will not work anymore.IC is wise to your tricks.

Good thing is now the ordinary layman will know the meaning of fear, something the Tamils in the N&E lived with for almost 1 generation.

More Civilian Massacres as Mannar LTTE Bastion Prepares to Fall
At least nine civilians have been killed in Thanamalvila by the LTTE last night. The latest attack comes in the wake of a confrontation last morning between LTTE cadres retreating from Buttala Massacre. One soldier was injured in the attack. The soldiers were tracing the steps of the LTTE unit when they were attacked. The Tigers had laid AP (johnny) mines and booby traps along jungle treks to facilitate getaway.
Meanwhile the SLA's 58 Division and its three brigades are within one and a half kilometers of Adampan Junction. The Northern route from this junction leads directly to Veduthalthivu. The route to the west goes past the sacred Thiruketheeshwaram Kovil, which is now under partial SLA control. South of Adampan junction is Uylankulam and Palampiddi is to the east.
If SLA wrestles control of Adampan Town (Junction), LTTE activities in Palampiddi and Uylankulam will be immediately affected. If SLA advances further north, they will be able to capture the strategically important Veduthalthivu area. Currently LTTE is restrengthening its defences in Adampan, but has also begun constructing a new FDL along the Adampan Veduthalthivu line. This could be the first hint of a possible withdrawal from Adampan Town (Junction).
The ceaseless attacks by marauding SLA is launched almost purely by regular infantry. There are currently around 12 Avenues of Approaches of SLA advancing towards Vanni. Each Division (57, 58 and 59) has three Brigades each. Each Bridage has around 4 Avenues of Approaches. These are the advancing columns of men that are leading the infantry charge. The three Divisions, 57, 58 and 59 are called Mobility Corridors in military jargon. a Mobility Corridor comprises of one Division or 3 Bridges or 4 Avenues of Approaches.
The SLAF yesterday bombed an LTTE gathering place 3km west of Kilinochchi Town at Jeyapuram. SLAF also bombed a Mortar manufacturing plant in the general area Puthukudiiruppu. Damages caused to LTTE is unverified.

Recently there have been allegations that the Central Bank has been selling large quantities of gold from its reserves over the past few months. There have also been several public inquiries as well as newspaper articles referring to the sale of gold by the Central Bank, a media release stated. These stories and inquiries may perhaps be based on a copy of a fake letter dated 14th July 2007 purported to have been issued under the signature of the ?Secretary to the Finance Minister? which refers to a sale of ?7000 Kg. of 24K gold bullion?. This fake letter has already been referred to the Criminal Investigations Department by the Ministry of Finance and Planning for further action. It appears that certain interested parties are intent on misleading the public that the country?s gold reserves are being sold in order to enable the Government to meet its expenses, the Central Bank stated. The public is hereby notified that such allegations are blatantly false and they should not be misguided by false information on local gold sales by the Central Bank. |
