Poor and pathetic Para,
LTTE has no manpower to attack south, In guerrilla war they are masters and they have more than enough men to conduct a guerrilla war. Do you know how many men they mobilized to attack Katunayake base guarded by more than 3000 strong SLA? Do you know how many men with weapon pass more than hundred thousand strong SLA guarding Northern borders to destroy 26 aircrafts at Anurathapura? DO YOU HAVE ANY ANSWER? |

Pera,
Today's attacks are the result of people like you believing your govt's propaganda and urging the govt to go for a military solution. This has given you a false sense of security.
People in the south, including the military and political planners have repeatedly failed to grasp the fact that the LTTE is essentially a guerrilla organisation and as such does not require a large force to carry out attacks like today's anywhere in the country.
The best way to relieve pressure in the Vanni frontlines is to divert security forces to the rest of the country. The problem of manpower is more for the govt forces than for the LTTE because the govt has not got the manpower to make the rest of the country secure.
The late Tamilselvan's repeated warnings of taking the war to the south were ridiculed as empty threats and now you see he meant what he said. As Nadesan said yesterday the LTTE cannot be defeated because they are a a guerrilla force. |

Piranha and Poet,
I could understand your feelings today and preaching me ' see, what we told has happend' !
What could I say, rather than congratulating you.
Yes, LTTE has attacked and killed 30 civillians today. Yes, LTTE does not need to have lots of 'operatives' to carry out such attacks.
Perhaps we all forgot who started killing civillians.. I think Sinhala people are much better in that job, believ me, I have seen UNP goons killing Tamils in 1983!
My fear is that South also could be a mono-ethnic place like north. You are eleated and no mood to heay what I say. So I rest my case!

Our sympathies are with the parents and loved ones of
1. 56 girls perished and many more injured in the aerial bombing of Refuse centre in Vanni
and 2. 26 civilians killed and many injured in the claymore mine bus blast in Battala.
Who did what is less important than the losses off of irreplaceble lives and properties.
The government can stop all these killings at once by tabling the peace proposals for talks and commit itself to implement any agreement reached.
