Lossdial,
Umbata kohengiyth, wathura bahinne SLFP eken.
:))))
All politicians are crooks, whether in SLFP, UNP or JVP. When UNP govt was in office, corruption was rampant. Same story now repeating for SLFP govt, just like old wine in new bottles
War breeds corruption. That's why the war needs to be done away with first and foremostly. That's why at this crucial time, UNP and SLFP must get together to eliminate the common enemy rather than get involved in petty divisive politics.
Remember, LTTE wiped out the best of our political leaders in both the Tamil and sinhala communities. Little thought that now we are left with third rate corrupted politicians. One must understand who the bigger enemy is....and act with unity to thrash this cancer out of our society.
Hopefully, once the war is over Sri Lanka as a democracy will heal it self and people will make more prudent decisions in electing leaders.
Pity our leaders are not uniting even at this juncture.
pity some people don't see farther than their party colors

Lossdial,
Yes, both SLFP and UNP were involved in petty divisive politics.
Both SLFP and UNP leaders were killed by LTTE and if some excellent leaders were not assassinated by LTTE, Sri Lanka would probably be not so politically bankrupt and corrupt.
Difference between you and me is that I believe LTTE is the greater evil. You believe SLFP is the greater evil. Am I right?
I think even if SLFP was full of Angels, LTTE would never allow them to live long...that's why I say LTTE is common enemy and the greater evil (yeah, I know, sounds like George Bush)
