Sri Lanka President`s Thai Pongal message

`Sri Lanka`s Hindus join their fellow regionalists the world over, today, to celebrate Thai Pongal, the most popular of the Hindu festivals of Sri Lanka.
Their celebrations will continue the traditions and rituals of the Pongal, which falls on the first day of the month of Thai. This twice hallowed event is a festival of the Sun - the harbinger of good harvests, and a harvest festival celebrated after the farmers have reaped the rewards of hard work in the field.
In observing the traditions of Thai Pongal, the Hindus of Sri Lanka will show
their commitment to protecting a rich cultural heritage, and in keeping with the spirit of revival and rededication that is part of this festival, they will also look to the future with hope and optimism, shared by all people of our country.
I wish the Hindus of Sri Lanka a happy Thai Pongal and join them in their hopes for peace, prosperity, and greater trust and understanding in the coming year.`

Thai Pongal Message by LTTE.
'30 SLA soldiers DEAD and 100 plus wounded'
'Liberation Tigers of Tamileelam Operations Command in Mannaar has claimed to have thwarted a major push by the Sri Lanka Army launched in Parappaangka'ndal area on Monday. The SLA movement was thwarted after almost 8-hours of stiff resistance. At least 30 SLA soldiers were killed and more than 100 soldiers were wounded, the Tigers said. One SLA dead body was recovered by the Tigers who seized three AK-LMG guns, one RPG, two disposable Light Anti-tank Weapons and five T-56 type-2 assault rifles. Three LTTE fighters were killed in action.'

By the way, why it's 'Thai' Pongal ?
Why can't the Tamils at least have their own festival, like Tamil Pongal, or Ealam Pongal ?

If he is the 'Sold Representative of Tamils' shouldn't he issue a statement, at least ?
