IGP Victor Perera today said that the killer of UNP MP T. Maheswaran was never attached to Ministerial Security Division but a LTTE cadre trained by the LTTE pistol gang. Local media quoted police earlier as saying that the killer was a former guard of the MSD.

IGP is too is a punnakku distributer!

Petrol, Diesel prices up

The price of petrol had been increased by Rs.10 and Diesel by Rs. 5. The new price of Petrol is Rs. 127 and Diesel is Rs. 80 - dailymirror.lk


Co-chairs don't understand ground realities in Sri Lanka. A military solution is to keep sinhala people happy.

SL Coolie forces tried to do an advance move into Tigers held Area in Manalaru through Ariyakundaan village, however Tigers launched a heavy attack on the SL coolies and they ran-away from there and left so many materials of military uses.

Vital aid to Sri Lanka could be denied: Japanese envoy

Japan's peace envoy opened talks in Sri Lanka on Sunday, hinting international donors may hold back much-needed foreign aid if the island's decades-long ethnic conflict escalates, officials said.

Yasushi Akashi, who arrived in Sri Lanka for three days of crucial talks on Sunday, met the Marxist JVP, the main left party, for an hour-long discussion, the party said in a statement.

'While Japan and other international donors give a lot of aid to Sri Lanka, Mr Akashi indicated that donors may call off aid, given the current ground situation,' the JVP said.

Tokyo is the biggest bilateral aid giver to Sri Lanka, which is battling a 36-year-old Tamil separatist conflict that has claimed more than 60,000 lives since 1972.

Finance ministry figures here show that Japan gave nearly 200 million dollars to Sri Lanka between January and September last year.
