Banana Lanka.
What a wonderful new name for Sri Lanka. Very appropriate.
Since you are not getting any eelam, you too are associated with banana lanka whether you like it or not. :) |

Dear freedom1
Article: Co-chairs request Colombo to provide diplomatic access to Ki'linochchi
Saturday, 12 January 2008 - 9:19 PM SL Time
what is the purpose of the visit to kili if the co-chairs are allowed and how one will have to measure the victory, defeat or retreat if a full scale war starts ,,
i think, one need to have a kind of yard stick to measure the outcome of the war at one stage before it starts because the gosl want the war, and want it in the Tamil territory,, a war that can be avoided,,
ie
victory/defeat,, how much territory a party have to capture or how many combatants need to be killed?
retreat,, how many civilians or combatants need to die??

Dear Tiger Lady,
best wishes to you ...
what is the purpose of the visit to kili if the co-chairs are allowed and how one will have to measure the victory
, defeat or retreat if a full scale war starts ,,
For my feel all Sri Lankans should support any type of peace efforts regardless if coming from outside or inside. Aren't 25 years enough? The rest of Asia is moving forward except for the Burma Junta and struggeling PAK.
Also i truly doubt that there will ever be a 'full scale war against the Tamil Sri Lankans' There might be a huge anger once LTTE will overdo it, but deep in their hearts, the majority of Sinhalese has great sympathies with all suffering Tamils.
That has been my observation so far. I might be wrong with that, but i can not say anything different according to what i have seen and heard.
Criminal minded nutters in uniform are a problem for both ethnic groups, but so far i never heard of hatred and the desire for genocide or full scale war.

Let the rat cull begin:
DefenceNet:
Fighting erupted in Vavuniya when LTTE resisted a two pronged limited offensive launched by the army. Soldiers of the 57th division moved ahead of their forward defense lines to launch attacks on LTTE positions in the area. At least 25 LTTE cadres were killed in the fire fights that erupted soon afterwards. SLA too suffered casualties while crossing the no man's land as it had been heavily mined and booby trapped by the tigers.

but that wasn't enough for the LTTE rats, here comes more flights to peelam:
Mannar front also heated up when defending LTTE cadres clashed with soldiers of 58th division. 58th division (also known as the Task Force 01), under the command of Brigadier Shamindra Silva, has been gradually moving towards the LTTE enclave of Vilathithikulam.

The underdogs have been sent into the amphitheatre with a point to prove:
LTTE have been strengthening their defenses in the area ahead of Temple Hill amry base with additional defence lines being built and trenches being dug. SLA's 59th division has been strategically deployed in this area. 59th division, commanded by Brigadier Nanda Udawaththa, is the newest offensive division to be raised by the army.

Dear freedom1
thanks for the reply and for the wishes,,
For my feel all Sri Lankans should support any type of peace efforts regardless if
coming from outside or inside. agreed, the war must stop first,,
Aren't 25 years enough? The rest of Asia is moving forward except
for the Burma Junta and struggeling PAK. more than enough, we have suffered a lot, and every Tamil
home do have a sad story to talk about and cry,,
Also i truly doubt that there will ever be a 'full scale war against the Tamil Sri Lankans'
i too have that feeling, the ltte should not go on the offensive in jaffna or in the east,,the victory ,defeat or retreat must be decided in Vanni,,
the ltte retreated from jaffna in 1995 after the request by India( for it's own security reasons,, china ,,pakistan), the gosl walked into east while hiding behind the CFA,, lanka is hell bent on war, the co-chairs should decide now,, jaffna is gone, east is gone with the CFA and the ltte is confined to vanni only,,
There might
be a huge anger once LTTE will overdo it,
it is not the sinhalese who will be anger,,,
but deep in their hearts, the majority of Sinhalese has great
sympathies with all suffering Tamils. no, i do not believe that,, i will believe if they change the constitution only,,
That has been my observation so far. I might be wrong with that, but i can not say anything different according
to what i have seen and heard. i accept what you say,,
Criminal minded nutters in uniform are a problem for both ethnic groups,
all most all of them are,,
but so far i never heard of hatred and
the desire for genocide or full scale war. it will if the ltte go on the offensive in jaffna or in the east,,
the war cannot be continued , and it must be stopped, but the international community is not so effective because
the gosl hide behind it's so called sovereignty and the R2P issue do not raise at this stage,,
