Maheswaran used to be a big time kerosene trader who supplied Kerosene to Northern peninsula from South.He made a fortune in trading while educating himself in politics and joined the front-line.Time he passed he was a co-owner of a 2000 MT vessel which traded consumables from South to North until the vessels was caught with aeroplane spare parts.Since the confistication of the consignment her regular sailing came to an halt.
He was always known as Kerosene Mahes or thel Mahes

You may be right in relation to the vessel.But I gave up further research on him as he used the North situation very intelligently.Sad he had to go this way.But I guess he was on the cards of Tamil Extremists.

I heard he had connections with LTTE and wanni, also he may have bad mouthed VELu with some one in Wanni and this was the punishment.
