Just forget about this political bickering. How was your new year? Did it start well? Mine was fine and had a fantastic start last night. :)

Hope you had a good start as well.

Question remains on the extent of power devolution, not if we need a solution. I think we are way past that.

We have extremist ideologies. JVP and JHU prefers to go back to way it was by hook or crook. LTTE prefers total separation. Each side help other's cause.

Sri Lanka has implemented the 13th amendment every other province except in N&E.

AS JHU and JVP say, that these regional govts are another WASTAGE. Because, right now we are struggling incapable of making the central govt honest and accountable. How come we are going to add another burden of provincial govts to that burdan.

We need to understand even the Colombo Municpality is wasting a lot. there are more like that.

In case, of LTTE they know, Even Velu knows that they are not going to achieve EELam. They are continuing in the the name of more power to them and for more money from diaspora.

IN your case, you also may have other things in your mind to think about devolution.

Other than that, I agree with JVP and JHU.

It is Kotehena Police said and Tamilnet quoted the police version.

A/D,

R you alrite today? Seems you are totally confused ...lol

I pposted it because, you believe when it is from tamilnutvamsam.

Anyway, news over and over say, that 12 people are injured and the suspected killer (he had two guns with him, one a pistol) is also injured and he is custody.

I told you to counteract, the 'suggestion' that it was punnaku.

Look like Novascotia is TOO cold and make people confused.

For example, Muslims started to talk about that may be 02 decades ago. when muslims talks special demands for them, that is accepted. But, sinhala buddhists talk about that, that is racism, chauvanism.

I agree with you on above. This happens becasuse this communilism is used as a means of coming to power.

I disagree with you on the SL identity- 3 provinces (properly demarked) -but ONE SRI LANKAN IDENTITY- honeestly -majority of the countries in modern world operate this way!

I agree with you- I'm confused-no doubt -these damned things will 'cross even the most learned rabbi's eyes'
:-)))

AnuD:

My reasons for power devolution.

1. Empower people at local levels which can address uniques issues of local communities, may it be language, education, policing or any other issue. You can resolve the current ethnic issue which can be the biggest single advantage.

2. Reduce wastage and more accountability. Results of governments will be more visible because people get to compare with other states which brings more accountability.

3, Create competition between provinces which can lead to better things.

4. Ease of development. There got to be at least one corruption free local govt.

This all should come with reduced central government (perhaps 15 or less cabinet). I understand this brings a whole array of other problems of sharing resources. But, implementing a political solution will prevent division of our country which is my utmost priority.

Vini,

Bottom line: Resorting to violence is not a civilized method to seek a solution.

Using your own argument, how civilised GOSL is in comparison to LTTE given the current goings on? The above statement of yours not only applicable to the LTTE, but also to GOSL, don't you think?

Not long ago, you compared MR to a modern day Dutagamunu, do you understand what it means? You have no clue!

You often talk about Sri Lankan identity, I say to you that, you do this with the full knowledge of enforcing and continuing the Sinhala Buddhist Hegemony. You first need to invest sometime to learn about democracy, and what form is suitable for Sri Lanka in order to promote a Sri Lankan identity. One thing is sure, you have a long way to go.

I am not wishing anyone Happy New Year, because there is nothing to look forward to in the context of Sri Lanka, but sure to wish you on your personal front.
