I second that. I too participate in both forums. Even our military prefers a political solution to this mess whereas some of us still like the way it was.

You are confused today. You made a statement that the problems will be solved once the economic problems of NE are solved.
Now you are saying Sinhala areas need developing. This is a war that has claimed the lives of more than 60,000 civilians. All the things that people in the south take for granted are destroyed. Every family in NE has been touched by the violence some way or other.
Now you are talking about developing Sinhala areas.
During Sirimavo's time all investors were diverted from NE to invest in the South. When the provincial councils were brought in to solve the NE problems the Southern politicians saw another opportunity to defraud the country. When Tsunami aid was given, most of it went into the politicians pockets and very little went to the people of NE.
So I am saying until the people of NE are able to develop themselves, this problem will continue. When development aid is chanelled through GOSL, less than 1% will reach NE.

You thinking works if all 03 communities think the same way

Problem is -this wont happen spontaneously-
Political leadership is needed -which we dont have at the moment.

AT present this is only theory. Because, present trend is getting more communalist. For example, Muslims started to talk about that may be 02 decades ago. when muslims talks special demands for them, that is accepted. But, sinhala buddhists talk about that, that is racism, chauvanism.

So, you are asking contradicting your self make three provinces to for each group and then make everybody 'Sri Lankans'.

For me, you are confused, and it is not a long term 'vision'.

That is how I read it, no offense.

I may live overseas. But, I am much closer to SL than many in this forum. I am from down south and visit often. I cannot say that I know every single person in SL. But, I am with my friends / family in SL which I think is a fair representation of SL population in terms of political position. Chauvinism does not bring true peace and harmony. This only divide people further. All our leaders (political and military) prefer a political settlement. Question remains on the extent of power devolution, not if we need a solution. I think we are way past that.

We have extremist ideologies. JVP and JHU prefers to go back to way it was by hook or crook. LTTE prefers total separation. Each side help other's cause.

Guys!

Another little theory of mine -if you care to mull over1
again :-))))!

both our 'races' are susceptible to dictatorships. it seems to be cultural trait common to both. The common man chooses his 'boss' -(not 'rep') & hoots for him/her no matter what!. VP worship by a large prop of Tamils & JR/PRemadasa/RW/MR worship by Sinhalese is proof. Once you align youself you simply dont change! This attitude is the main culprit-the 'bosses' get away with anything!
I ommited the 3rd 'race' as I dont know much -no offence pl!
