Compare Devinda Subasingha with MRs cousin BUFFALO - he appointed to head the SL mission in LA. No one has indulged in Family PLUNDER appointing so many family members to govt paid positions.
Don't compare an Ambassador vs. Consul General. Let's compare Consul General in L.A. who was appointed by Ranil and Consul General in L.A. who was appointed by Mahinda....
When Ranil became the PM, he recalled much-regarded, respected Tissa Wijeratne of the foreign service from the L.A. Consul General and appointed his man from Sri Lanka - PRADEEP GUNAWARDENA.
What did Ranil's man Pradeep do in L.A. Consulate General office? What did he do for the country? Pradeep was the biggest thief that was appointed to L.A. Consul office. He first brought his girl friend from Sri Lanka and lived with her. Then he brought his legal wife from Sri Lanka and kept her in a different house. Then he sent both of them back to SL and started an affair with a married Sri Lankan woman from L.A to get his green card. All of this, while having other affairs with some other Sri Lankan women in California (names withheld for their privacy). Apart from his personal life, Pradeep earned every penny he could get from the government. Did he organize any important function, event or establish any relationship with the US officials or other diplomats? When he signed the contract for office space in Wilshire blvd in L.A., the government had to pay the rent the two times the normal rent at that time. The owner of the building has later confirmed, Pradeep wanted the contract that way and he has been paid US$ 25,000 per year. When he lost his Consulate General post, he sold all the furniture in his official residence and destroyed the inventories - you can verify with the next Consul general H.K. Bandara.
When Mahinda became the President, he recalled H.K.Bandara and appointed Jaliya Wickramasuriya. Everyone in California was glad that Bandara was gone because only thing he did right was getting drunk and leaving the office after lunch. Jaliya may be a distance relative of President, but just evaluate him by his performance for the last 9 or so months.
Within 9 months, he has done a tremendous job for Sri Lanka and the Lankan community in California.
- Right after he was appointed, he organized a nice cultural show for the Independence Day. L.A. city and county officials along with other diplomats from many countries participated. And it was a rich experience for the Sri Lanka diaspora - especially the children got a chance to see their culture. No gov funds used as verified.
- Organized a trade exhibition called 'Focus Sri Lanka' and brought down many businessmen from Sri Lanka and connected them with direct big time buyers in the US. I heard results are already in place. It certainly promoted Sri Lanka's tourism, culture and trade with many diplomats and US officials being present. This is all done without using government money - solely using sponsorships and maybe his own money.
- Talk to someone from the Consulate General office and verify how many meetings this guys had with other diplomats and US gov officials within the short period? First you need to establish relationships and then use them for the country's benefit. If you go to the Consulate office now, it looks like a real place with extended real estate - but for how much? The same price as before what Pradeep Gunawardena agreed to pay - you know why? No commission of US$ 25,000 paid to Consul General.
- Go there and try to get a passport or visa. Service is excellent. Talk to some Sri Lankans living in California and hear for your self. Before, they misplaced your passports or had to wait for months to get a new passport.
- Jaliya Wickramasuriya has been attending every Sri Lankan event organized by the community to encourage them. All of this while trying to establish good relationships with the diplomats and other state and city officials.

ANAL WAY....
Once again im asking you a VERY SIMPLE question. What should be the purpose of Presidental visits to other countries spedning MILLIONS from TAX payer Money?
IS IT
1. to meet leaders of those other countries for Foreign relations
OR
2. to attend Temples and social Gatherings?
Just look at the International standing we hand during the time of Laxman Kadirgama and RW.
Compare that time with Today -
1. Many European countries have stopped all aid to SL.
2. Some countries like the US are considering Sanctions against SL.
3. World refusing to give aid So we have to go and get aid from Private banks at interest rates as HIGH AS 7.5%. During the tokyo donor conferance we were offered 4.5 BILLION Rs for interst rates as low as 1-2%.
4. World leaders are REFUSING TO even give an appointment to MR.
In a situation like this - what should be the main goal of MR be? Visiting temples and socializing with SL expatriates at TAX payer expense????
As for your long repeat about some PRADEEP GUNAWARDENA. i dont know who this guy is. But i also can claim that i know this person and that person and he did this and that. i can also relate how MR behaved when he visited Kuwait as Minister of Labour without his wife and then what he did to the house maids who came to visit his Hotel room!! there are Plenty of roumours we can go into. And that will be no end. I really dont mind having that conversation with a person of the mental capacity of Gamiya - but i seriously dout you would want to get into a discussion like that wit me.
As for this 'TREMENDOUS JOB' the presidents cousin has done in LA. im sure this is comming from an UNBIASED source. thats why we should keep our discussions on to things that can be varified (unless ofcourse your Gamiya). Thats why i stick with whats on newspapers (except with Gamiya)
Just curious - did that Monk get hotel rooms for all the participants of those cultural shows and trade shows. :) :)
You keep repeating that that thing was highly beneficial and this thing was amazing and all. but can you show me a figure. For axample can you shows me how much Foreign investment these 'highly Beneficial' events the presidents cousin has organized has brought in. there has to be someway to measure. if you cant measure the benefis something - then there is no point in doing it.
The previous UNP govt foreign policy can be measured:
1. Tokyo Donor conferance.
2. Military aid (Ofcourse patrol vessel, training) etc.
3. Tried to enter into a FTA but could not complete.
4. Foreign Investment- Hyatt
to name a few things. And all this was done with the minimal of cost (for example - he didnt bring 65 Personal stooges from SL on first class and put them up in Luxuary hotels at Tax payer expense).
Can you please list some QUATIFIABLE foregin policy success of MR please? Eagerly awaiting your response.

Couple of issues here. First I don't approve of Mervin's behaviour. I have full confidence in the Party General Secretary who is looking into this issue.
It was CBK who appointed Mervin Silva via. the SLFP Naitonal list.
So given this situation let's be practical. The only way to solve this issue permanantly is to remove mervin from Parlaiment. And this can be Done only if the Supreme Court Removes his Civic Rights...(Eg: S B Dissanayake). It is Legally not Possible for the President to Remove an MP from Parliament. (Nationalist MP or otherwise) So...Why don't you lodge a complaint against Mervin in the Supreme Court. This will be a productive move. |

ANUS-AM is still Dreaming about the coast Guard Cutter that Milinda Moragoda Obtained by talking to his personal friend (Richard Armitage). As I've said before this was a FULLY DECOMMISIONED US Vessel which would have been 'Scrap Metal' in the US if it was not taken over by someone......
At anyrate, Milinda is now a Cabinet minister in Mahinda's Govt.....
This is like ANUS-AM eating his last piece of fish because even the 'fisherman' has desserted ANUS-AM's sinking ship.....

Looking at the garbage you post here on this website, I don't blame your inability to understand how problems such as Mervin Silva could be solved. First of all, the president should strip him off of all the positions he holds in the government as if he is part of an on-going investigation he should not be allowed to hold office. Second of all, if the president was actually keen on putting away this rascal for a while, then the president is obviously capable of doing so using indirect routes such as making sure any case against him is in a political vacuum thereby preventing any external force exerted to change the verdict. If CBK could send SB to jail and MR could use his powers to silence those who oppose him, then I don't see a reason why packing Mervin off would be a hard task. Mind you, we are talking about an MP who took over his wife's seat to come back to power. I highly doubt the president will be met with any opposition from anyone due to Mervins unpopularity. And also, as the leader of the SLFP, the president should also exert pressure on the disciplinary commitee of the SLFP to sack him from the party permenantely. The current efforts made by the general secretery so far doesn't seem to have had any effect on Mervin Silva. I'm sure you are no 'thoththa baba' and by now should understand how Mervin could be put away. The reason for none of the above happening is because the Water Buffalo you put into power is harboring these criminals and providing them protection under his executive umbrella. Like I said before, I did not expect you to understand these thing by yourself, but maybe now you could reflect on how the PRESIDENT could use his powers to put away these nuisances for good. |

You know what?
When Hon Ranil W told in media that he is going to cancell the banking licence of HSBC, I went to HSBC and got a huge loan...
Now I know when Hon Ranil W come to power, I do not have to pay back my laon as Hon Ranil will kick the HSBC off from Sri lanka :)
Only problem is some people bully me saying that I have to wait untill my next birth if I want to see Hon Ranil in power!

It is sad that you have not read and understood my reply to you on this issue....
It was not CBK that sent SB to Jail it was the Chief Justice. Because charges were filed against SB by ordinary citizens of Sri Lanka. SB was found Guilty of the charges and was sentenced to a Jail term and a loss of Civic Rights for 7 years. This was why SB lost his seat in Parliament. If you want Mervin to be in Jail as I told you ealier, you must file charges against him. Unfortunately you can't do that at LNP. Mervin was vedeo taped saying that he will use his Pistol to remove any obstacle..........I don't for one moment condone with Mervin but I'm not sure if this is a Criminal Offence...SB Clearly insulted and Demeaned the Judiciary...and that is deamed criminal considering he was a cabinet Minister....Over the Embassey issue with mervin, the Embassey has not complained to anyone yet....So no action can be taken........Believe me that I more than anyone else want Mervin Dealt with....But there has to be a formal Complaint against him for action to be taken........And unfortunately Lodging the Complaint on LNP will not work.....
As for Mervin's son, Justice is taking it's course and he has been further remanded. I think Frankly this is good. Because this Guy Malaka has a history of doing this...Now you can't keep him for life in Prison but he cirtainly MUST be thought a bitter lesson by the Judiciary. That is happening. There is no proof of damage to the case by political interference. The Original B-Report of the case Remains intact, and the Daya Perera is appearing for the Victim in this case....The Casino Accountant (Brother of UNP Kaduwala Organiser Senasinghe, and also Brother of the Dr. Namal Senasinghe Who owns an Aston Martin DB9 with cutomised 'Namal' plates in London.) I think Malaka will be screwed in this case if it proceeds..........BUT HERE's the Real Story........Traitor Ranil is willing to intervene in this case and have all charges against Malaka Dropped in Exchange for MERVIN's Political Loyalty.....We have Solid Proof of Phone Converstions that proove this.....This is why Traitor Ranil can never bring a No-Confidence motion against Mervin. So if Mervin Turns GREEN and Charges are dropped please don't blame Mahinda........As long as Mervin stays BLUE Malaka will be Vigourously Prosecuted with Daya Perera PC in the Scene...
You talk about Mervin's wive's seat....YES!! It was Traitor Ranil's beloved CBK that Put Mrs. Mary Lucida (Mervins Wife) on the SLFP National List........This is much worse than Appointing SB as the SLFP General Sec. over Seniors like Maithripala Sirisena....But this was the way Traitor Ranil's Beloved CBK did things.....What to do??? Mervin's wife or Mistress or Partner it Doesn't Matter.....Once you are MP, YOU are MP until the Parliament is Dissolved unless you resign on your own accord......And as long as MERVIN is MP he will HAVE his PISTOL.....Because J R Jayawardena Allowed all MP's to carry a Personal Pistol.....So come up with a workable plan to remove Mervin from Parliament....Only way I can see is to go to the Judiciary....President has NO POWER's under the Constitution to Remove a Member of of Parliament.....Believe me if the President had that Power Mangala and Sripathy will no longer be MP's......This is why Dictator JR Jayawardena kept undated letters of Resiganation for all MP's in his pocket....
