Oh yeah not only MR - we should all be frightened if Sanctions are imposed. This has nothing to do with Bush or any single politician. this has to do with our contries economy. If the US imposes economic sanctions (even partial) we are finished. Our main export is garments and the largest buyer is the US buying as much as $2 BILLION a year. Close upon 1 million are employed DIRCTLY in the garments trade. What will happen to thse people? Is Punnakku raja going to give jobs to all these people like he has given to his family members?
Foreign policy is NOT about being frightened of anyone or fake nationalism or who speaks what language. its about building relations and diplomatically getting things done to the benefit of all.
Today if you ask anyone with even an iota of knowledge about trade - they will tell you Srilankan exports are threatened by cheaper labour in India and China. So we have to be competitive and the sanctions are the last thing we need.

Now ANUS-AM is Talking Big about the Late Kadirgamar's Foreign Policy.............He Nicely avoids the FACT that it WAS Traitor Ranil that SACKED Kadirgamar from the Foreign Ministry in 2001. SLFP as a Party and CBK Personally wanted Kadirgamar to continue as Foreign Minister in 2001.....
ANUS-AM's Traitor Ranil HATED the late Kadirgamar and ANUS-AM is silent about this. There is no point in Talking Big about Kadir after SACKING him from the Cabinet in 2001.....

But amazingly his UNP works around the clock to get this happen. As it happned with Saddam's Iraq, any sanctions will crush the poor further and MR or RW will not have to suffer.
Incidentally UNP email campaign (sent to alldelegatins and other participating dignitaries) prior to MR's UN speach, was also urging the IC to 'contain' SL government, comparing SL to Mugabe's Zimbabwe.
With Anizam's eagerness about sanctions, lack of care about poor of SL, vocabulary ('Blood Brothers' etc ), belief that fall of MR will automatically bring RW to power, one should not be surprised if he was also part to the treacherous act.
