It is like JRJ has mentioned, I also rarely visit main page to discuss imminent problem, since it has been discussed thousand times you start to wonder your stand on certain issue. But, I have not change from the main course of journey yet.

VinividaM usually keeps me on track.

In US:
Hans Blix (Head of Weapons Inspectors) was accused of being in the payroll of Saddam Hussein before ill fated Iraqi invasion by US.

What happened? Iraq is destroyed, 750,000 Iraqis, 3700 American and British killed.

In Sri Lanka

Alan Rock was accused of being in the pay roll of LTTE.

Those accused of being terrorists:

Alan Rock
John Holmes
Jehan Perera
V Prabakaran.

Yet, the root cause of war and destruction remains the extreme Sinhala Buddhism as illustrated by Jehan Perera who has been also strongly critical of LTTE.
President Mahinda Rajapaksa used the podium in New York to speak in the Sinhala language and reach the hearts and minds of his countrymen back at home. This was the second successive occasion in which the President used the Sinhala language to address all the nations of the world. Invariably the largest audience for the President?s speech was in Sri Lanka where the powerful state media gave it maximum coverage.

One of the roots of the ethnic conflict, and current war in Sri Lanka, has been the issue of language. When Sinhala was made the sole official language of the country in 1956 over the impassioned opposition of its Tamil-speaking peoples, who amounted to over a quarter of the country?s population, the seeds of ethnic marginalization were laid. Although the government made Tamil also an official language in 1990, it remains unimplemented for the most part. The President?s choice of Sinhala to make his speech at the UN remains part of a deeply ingrained pattern in government officials, both elected and unelected, to give primacy to Sinhala only.

I guess we just have to borrow the western hi tech and run the factory faster than theirs.

So we could look at their well paid and value creating jobs and wonder why they are not ours.

Our schools however got to raise their standards and become a lot more competitive to beat the greater part of the competition due to the outsourcing phenomenon.

Its even more of a challenge when a huge chunk of the Sri Lankan Diaspora is still seeking hefty returns from their busted Vanni vampire project completely ignoring the humanity and peace dividends.

After all, we are only as strong as our weakest links!

Reasoning of that calibre demonstrates exactly why that place is the back passage of civilization at present.

Don't shoot the messenger. What he said was the reality of today's economy. I don't know the public sector but walk into even a small private sector firm and you will realize over 60% of the work is done in English.

I was talking about not what he said, but how he presented it.

It is hatred, jealousy, arrogance and snobbishness.

They have free education from SRi lanka go overseas, then becomes the biggest mouths in the world.

That is their gratitude.

As such the prospect of any progress, advancement, reconstruction or signs of peaceful coexistence would act as triggers for them.

Of course, if we brag about that, they'll come back and squat on our screens.
