ThCOLOMBO: Dutch journalist Jon Bottis who had been allegedly subjected to harassment is to make a written complaint on his plight to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickremenayake shortly.
Bottis said that some of his belongings worth more than Rs. 250,000 were stolen from his apartment room in Hikkaduwa recently and when he went to lodge a complaint with the police he was subjected to harassment.
He said the police did not record a statement but wanted him to sign a document written in Sinhalese. ?I did not want to sign the document because I did not know what it was,? Bottis said.
He further explained that one policeman had called him outside the station and asked whether he needed a woman to have sex with.
?I was astonished to hear such a thing from a policeman,? he said.
He said he came to Sri Lanka to do some travel write-up with an objective of promoting the country and was sorry that he was treated this way.
Bottis alleged that someone must have used a duplicate key to steel his belongings.
He had lost his Olympus digital camera, mobile phone worth around Rs. 60,000 and Rs. 12,000 in cash.

Sinthaka, buddy:

Peelam = Eelam x 0.4 (60% acquired by MR/VP deal)

Velus portion = (Eelam x 0.4) x 1/3 (2/3 to Barber and Pirate)

Good math... I like math... Let me then get an answer from you to this question:

Q: What is the answer you get when Eelam is subtracted from Sri lanka?

In outher words. what is this equal to:
'Sri Lanka' - 'Eelam'

I be back in a while..

Aren?t we heard this story somewhere?

A recent opinion article in the New York Times criticized death toll estimates for Darfur that we have quoted. The article misses a critical point in the debate over how many people have actually died. The real point is that, unfortunately, mortality estimates cannot be verified or updated because the Government of Sudan actively denies the international community ? including diplomats, humanitarian workers, and epidemiology experts ? real access to the Darfur region.
