Mihin Air flying the rich
Founded as the carrier for the poor, the state owned controversial Mihin Air is fast flying the rich and the newly rich at the expenses of public funds.
The growing allegation regarding Mihin Air is fuelled by some of its latest destinations as well as what industry analysts describe as ?suicidal pricing.?
This week Mihin Air began flying to shoppers? paradise Singapore hot on the heels of a flight to another shopping and tourist destination Thailand. Analysts said that these destinations are not sought after by the poor, especially in remote villages. When Mihin Air commenced operations it portrayed the picture that the flight would cater to the needs of the less affluent.
?Given the character and attractiveness of Singapore and Bangkok, it is the rich and the newly rich as well as traders and businessmen who visit these destinations for shopping and other interests,? analysts said. Services to Europe, another destination sought after by the affluent are regular passengers on Mihin Air. The entire investment on the Mihin Air project will amount to Rs 1.5 million while state institutions have so far invested Rs 800 million.

Thug in Diplomat clothing says that there are no Tamils in the armed forces because of the 'intolerance of Tigers'. How does that affect the Tamils living outside of LTTE areas? Can't the government protect Tamils who enlist from outside of the LTTE areas? The truth is they don't trust Tamils (even if they live outside the LTTE areas) as they will want to undermine the armed forces to further the goal of Eelam and want to have a pure Sinhala army capable of committing genocide.
