Sinthaka,
Did he ever say a word of sympathy when the SL govt which he served as a minister imposed food embargo on Tamil areas?
What good international fame do to a 'human' who cannot say a word to comfort to children and women who were dying of starvation?
How can a human order an ICRC or UNICEF to get out when they plead with the govt not to bomb public buildings where civilians sought refuge?
Don't you think he is an inhuman.
You don't need a UN Sec Gen to tell you he was fantastic because he never had to starve or victimised by an aireal bomb. If all the Colombo medias blackout all the inhuman activities of the govt forces others outside don't come to know this.
UN SEc Gen has to follow the official protocol, whenever a minister of a member country is killed he normally reads what is written for him, it does not say anything more. |

Vishva...there is democracy in Sri Lanka alright...but..Chauvanists from both these major Communities in Sri Lanka had changed the structure of democracy to suit their selfish ends. On the other hand..it is correct in all the sense that in any Country in this World it would be always the Majority who would be in the forefront in ruling the Country along with co-operation of the minorities in an amicable manner. The trouble starts only when the majority flaws with this regard and the minority doesn't seem to know their stance and demand for 50 - 50 as happened in Sri Lanka, way back in the 50's.
So, in a sense..the communities should know their parameters and where they stand. |

Eelamists are against intellectuals, as you would see from their proud track record. Intellectuals will question Velu.....not so the dumbos.
So get the Intellectuals out of the way first. Make the race dumb, so that there will be unquestioning and unlimited supply of child soldiers, women suicide bombers and frauding Diaspora to feed Velu and Family.

Sintamus:
If I am to describe all the services Kadir did in detail, then I wouldn't have any time to do anything else. So, here's the link..help yourself and brush up your memory
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakshman_Kadirgamar
You may think Kadir didn't do any service for peace. Not so are the world leaders. Read the part about the UN General Secretary's statement.
International reaction
Neighboring India condemned what the foreign ministry described as a 'terrorist crime' and offered its full support.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, who last met Mr Kadirgamar in June, condemned the assassination of Sri Lanka's foreign minister as a 'senseless murder and vicious act of terror' and urged Sri Lankans not to let it lead to resumed civil war. She praised Kadirgamar as a man of 'dignity, honor and integrity, who devoted his life to bringing peace to Sri Lanka'.
UN Secretary General Kofi Annan said in a statement quoted by the AFP news agency: 'Sri Lanka has lost a deeply respected statesman dedicated to peace and national unity.'
Australia's Foreign Minister Alexander Downer paid tribute to Kadirgamar saying he played a key role in bringing forward the peace process in Sri Lanka. 'Lakshman Kadirgamar was an eminent statesman and a distinguished representative of Sri Lanka,' he said. 'He was a man of moderation who sought the path of peace and worked tirelessly for his country.'
Peace brokers Norway also condemned the assassination, with Foreign Minister Jan Petersen describing it as 'an atrocious crime and a tragedy for Sri Lanka.'

Who got rid of kathir?? imagine kathir in the MR govt!!:))
*After the Parliamentary Elections of 2004, in which the United People's Freedom Alliance was victorious, There was a struggle between Rajapakse, former Foreign Minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar and President Chandrika Kumaratunga's brother and former Opposition Leader Anura Bandaranaike for the post of Prime Minister.
*Kumaratunga was widely expected to appoint Kadirgamar, one of her close advisers, however, due to pressure from grass-root levelparty supporters, Kumaratunga had to select Mahinda Rajapaksa instead. Rajapaksa was sworn in as Sri Lanka's 13th Prime Minister on April 06, 2004.
the same rajapaksa, reduced CBK to nothing!!

Tigs
One last post before I sign off:
Who got rid of kathir??
On August 12, 2005, around 2300 (UTC+6), Kadirgamar was shot by an LTTE sniper in Colombo as he was getting out of the swimming pool at his private residence. Early reports indicate he was shot twice in the head, once in the neck, and once in the body. He was rushed to the National Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His hospital report indicates that he died as a result of his wounds.
It is widely believed around the world that Kadirgamar's assassins belong to LTTE, a group banned as a Terrorist Organization by a number of countries including the United States, Canada, India and the European Union. A overwhelming majority of Sri Lankans hold them responsible due to the fact that Kadirgamar was responsible for getting the US among many countries to classify the LTTE as a terrorist organization. The Tamil Tigers have denied responsibility for the killing, and have stated that any damage Kadirgamar had made to their international reputation by Lakshman Kadirgamar was already done, and they would not risk the cease-fire agreement by carrying out this assassination. This was seen merely as an expected statement from the LTTE after it had carried out a deadly attack and was not taken seriously by the International community
