Saleem:
A leader must be respected by his supporters. If he was a leader of Tamils he should be respected by them. He was not even a representative of Tamils. Not a single Tamil ever said a word in his favour, but many Sinhalese did and still do, you are one of them. Please do not expect or force Tamils to respect him or accept him as their leader, they alone can decide on that.
I think I don't have to repeat:
During a BBC interview he was asked if he thought he was a traitor to the Tamil people since he was a minister in a majority Sinhalese government. He said 'People who live in Sri Lanka are first and foremost Sri Lankans, then we have our race and religion, which is something given to us at birth'. 'We have to live in Sri Lanka as Sri Lankans tolerating all races and religion
Tamils didn't hate him..Eelamists did. Because Kadir never would never leave the fate of Tamils to an 8 grade dropout. That's why Eelamists hated him. Because he was not an Eelamist
He achieved international prominence in this position due to his wide ranging condemnation of the LTTE and his efforts to have them banned internationally.
He couldn't bear to see Tamils doing this:
Attacks on civilians
Attempted attacks on civilians
Assassinations
Child soldiers
Suicide bombing
Ethnic cleansing
Execution of POWs
Extortion
Proscription as a terrorist group
Criminal activities
Sea piracy
MV Farah III incident
Pilferage of tsunami donations
Human smuggling
Allegations of forced prostitution
Passport forgery
Drug trafficking
Arms smuggling
Other crimes

That's why he was against Eelamists. He tried to give peace to Tamils, by trying to free Tamil from the clutches of Velu.
