What to expect in Wanni ''IF'' all the rhetoric is to be believed...

..When we were at a crucial stage of the Jaffna battle I wanted to send some of the commandos in the inner defence of the headquarters of Palali to the front. We were short of special operational teams so I contacted the STF commandant at that time DIG Nimal Gunatilake, and asked him to send me 100 STF personnel for the protection of headquarters. He said I am the only one who says that Jaffna will be safe and will be preserved. The President, no minister or senior government officials or service commanders say that we will win Jaffna. Therefore, it was difficult for him to order 100 STF people. So when the DIG spoke to the STF troops guess what happened? 900 volunteered to go to Jaffna and to battle, to support General Janaka Perera. This was when the President of the country and everyone else said it's a no go, it's a death trap. Those soldiers were prepared to go to that death trap because I said it can be won they were people who had families but they were prepared to take that chance. These incidents should be specifically mentioned because I think this is heroism. They are heroes, they have the dedication, they have the ability, and they have the commitment...

Major General Janaka Perera - 2000

..Compared to some of their Asian counterparts, there is a distinct difference between those in the Sri Lankan Security Forces and the Police, including the Special Task Force (STF)...

..Whatever Government is in power, whatever task is handed down to them, they execute it with deep commitment and dedication. This is both during war and peace. No questions are asked, not even from their own superiors. This is exactly what they did in the battlefields of Batticaloa west...

..In the bloody battles during 58 days - April 8 to July 11 - (Phase II of military operations west of the A-5 Maha Oya-Chenkaladi highway), some officers and men paid the supreme sacrifice. Some of the injured will be left out of battle forever. Some others wait till their wounds are healed to return to battle. That is how they re-captured Toppigala (Baron's Cap)...

Iqbal Athas - in one of his situation reports

..A young Captain commanded 70 odd troops, who fought close quarter battles against 300-400 guerrillas. The LTTE attempt came a cropper. According to independently verified information and intercepted LTTE transmissions, at least 330 Tiger cadres were killed in the four days of fighting in the abortive mission. That was the first major guerrilla loss in the East...

Lt. General G.S.C. Fonseka - 2006

A very fitting tribute to the Courage and Determination present within the SLA now!!.. :O))

And what do we have on the other side of the Spectrum!!..

..The insecure people were panic-stricken at seeing their self-imposed sole representatives taking to their heels even before the people themselves. The Tigers have, for a long time, conned the people into believing that they would stand and fight to protect the people. Now the Tiger bluff has been called...

D.B.S.Jeyaraj - in his Weekly TamilWeek report

One thing is for sure.. Blood, Gut and Limp.. the SLA will fight!!.. They will not go quietly into the Night!!.. Is the LTTE prepared to lose an equally monumental tally of men, women and child fighters??..

What the SLA has demonstrated is the WILL and the NERVE to go the extra mile to save the territorial integrity of Sri Lanka!!.. Its the Tigers turn to show the World that they believe in what they preach, instead of making Grandiose statements to Reuters and the Associated Press!!..

The Gauntlet has been thrown down!!.. it's the Separatist's turn to pick it up!!..

Why do you thing USA wanted to get out of Iraq now, as you said if they have won they should have stayed there. Now they are looking for the hurried exit. This is a modern world we are living. weapons only can be used to destroy, not for winning.

Look at the usa finally everybody gave them up in Iraq.

Are you dreaming that Sri Lankans are going get out of the North and the East? Yankees will have to go one day because it's not their country and they made a blunder... the Iraqis will fight them.. to the end.

How can you compare proud Iraqis with the LTTE criminals looking for profit? Where are the TASSLs fighting the GOSL in the North / East / West / South... just like the Iraqis doing every nook and corner?

Garbage of the first order... consume it!

Guys,

This started as a guerilla war. Then became a conventional war. Don't get elated by territorial gains. It will simply continue as a guerilla war, even if LTTE fails to hold one inch of land - until a political solution is implemented.

It is wiser to concentrate on achieving a political consensus among the Sinhalese than to live in a false paradise of military adventurism.

This is my humble opinion. Take it or leave it:))

Are you dreaming that Sri Lankans are going get out of the North and the East?

No I don't think so...But they will be chased out...

Yankees will have to go one day because it's not their country and they made a blunder...

There we go that is the reason sinhala barbaric thughs will be chased out....

the Iraqis will fight them.. to the end.

Within few minutes you change your tone....good.. Tamils will fight to the end...

How can you compare proud Iraqis with the LTTE criminals looking for profit?

Proud?... for you but not for the USA buddy, like how you are proud about your own barbaric thughs in uniform.
It is easy you don't have to squeese your hardly working brain for this.
US thinks Iraqis are criminals they don't talk about their Occupation, like what SL thinks about Tamils.
Both the same.
Both of them has to go one day, tails between the legs with the wet pants if they have pants..

Where are the TASSLs fighting the GOSL in the North / East / West / South... just like the Iraqis doing every nook and corner?

Use some stimulation to make your brain to function.
By the way idon't know what the meaning of TASSL or DET or SWET.
Can you explain Please. You did before but i don't know whether it was true. because it is hard to find the truth and facts in your comments.

Aani...

Your humble opinion is well accepted.

Can you explain what led for you to link the LTTE's 'world-famous' activities to a 'political solution?

1.There's nice map of eeelaam - 2006 & 2007.
Is there a way to post it on the forum -cut 7 paste doesnt work.

2.However -on both sides too premature to rejoice or lament.
Such muddled up situation. ( I would like to rejoice-of course- ) Will India -the IC -The other parties and the economy itself -allow it to come to the conclusion.

any thoughts-not just blood thirsty cursing or rejoicing pl.

I am not responsible for LTTEs activities and I am not obliged to defend any one.

But I know that until a political solution is implemented, the Tamil struggle will continue, whether in the form of LTTE or some other organization.

So you should try to eliminate the causes of the problem, not the symptoms:))
