...When you are on the payment page, there is a comments feild where you could enter your LNP username
Didn't came across a comments field, proby bcos I never looked for one. Anyway, I don't mind being an anonymous donor - it was just a small amount. I guess someone out there knows my name, address and e-mail and hope they dont come knocking on my door at odd hours :):) :) |

LalithS:
Berty,
So, Join me in Dec and go to Bibile.
Man, good area for wild boar meat.
They say in my area 'Thel kellak kala wathu kelak giyath kamak nea' Did you get it?
Are you a vegi?
I am not against eating animals under certain circumstances:
1. you have nothing else to eat,
2. animal you killed was threatening your life,
3. animal killed himself happily so that you enjoy its meat(!),
etc, etc...
We Sri Lankans can get out of the quagmire in which we are bogged down only if we use:
1. our intelligence,
2. preserve what the nature offers to us in our beautiful island.
It is the lack of intelligence which has led to the current civil war. Is it better to make your neurones work a bit more by learning Tamil on hyper urgent island wide basis or is it better to go to war with imported arms? I?m sure there will be no Tamil/Sinhala friction if all Sinhalese speaks Tamil,. After all, Tamil language is a patrimony of all Sri Lankans, not just the Tamils.
99.99% of what you are( and what you have)comes from others. Take for example the language you speak: you learnt all the words from others. If the others are better off you will also get better and better inputs. Here, permit me to include the nature including animals in others.
How can we blame our politicians, when we ourselves behave like the elephant(lalithS) in the China(Bibile) shop!
Technically, ecologically and economically, eating meat is proved to be highly inefficient.
I know lalithS to be a thoughtful person. Since I consider Wall Uuura to be a brother of mine, please think of him as a living, feeling, thinking, entity.
When you imagine the death pain of an animal, meat becomes sour.
I blame none, because even such a saintly person like Dalai Lama can't stop his meat eating habit and Buddha himself ate meat when offered.

Dear PureSilence,
Technically, ecologically and economically, eating meat is proved to be highly inefficient.
First of all I feel you are a vegetarian and have sensitive feelings for killing animals. If so then join hands with me I am a veggie too and have worked in many charities including Gal Gawa Mithuro in the 80s.
I know Lalith is a great guy who has taken so much effort in doing this noble activity to bring better living condition to the affected people in Bibile. Lalith may be a meat eater but I feel he will not kill if he is asked to kill an animal, because after all Lalith is a man with good qualities.
Personally I am against killing any animal for food if we have alternatives like soya, beans, grains etc. In the past humans killed animals because the civilization was not developed that much but nowadays we have many developed areas in preparing food and for that matter we can actually produce protein from mycoprotein comes from fungi.
I have personally seen how animals are slaughtered in Sri Lanka and that alone gives me shock waves every time I see meat and the entire process is vividly imagined in my mind. I have been a veggie for about 20 years or so now, but even before that I didn't eat beef. I stopped eating beef in 1974 when I was a kid having seen how cattle parts are taken out from the Dematagoda slaughter house.
I also want to make a point that even though there is a belief that Buddha was offered meat (pork to be exact). Its not conclusive as such. Because the name as it is 'Suukara Maddhava' does not mean only pig meat. It also means a type of mushroom. Since it was a rich philanthropist who actually offered this meal he would have well known that Buddha was against animal culling and his philosophy is based on innocence and wisdom through practicality, so it may well be a debatable question.
If we ask our selves that whether we can kill an animal to eat, how many of us really would do that? I doubt not many.
Anyway, thanks for your point, I really felt a fellow thinker has dropped in after a long time in the LNP.
If you have any interesting points please visit my page and make your ethical, moral issues pertaining to animals, you are very welcome there.
regards
JRJ
