Colombo, 05 September, (Asiantribune.com): A whopping 84% have approved the war strategy of the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL), according to the latest opinion poll conducted by NGOs in Sri Lanka.
The latest study reveals that ?as many as 84 percent of the respondents?. agree that the government should concentrate on militarily defeating the LTTE and recapturing all the territory controlled by the LTTE,? says the National Peace Council which conducted the poll with the MARGA Institute.
Interesting....84%! then some of the Tamils and Muslims must also have approved the Govt military effort to neutralize terrorism. |

American troops were found guilty of torturing Iraqis. But for the last 11 years there is no crime left uncommitted by the SL army or for the last 17 months, by the EPDP as well on the Tamils in Jaffna. Not a single soldier or EPDP cadre was brought to trial for the violence they have unleashed on innocent youths.
The acquittal of a US army colonel on charges relating to the abuse of prisoners at Abu Ghraib means no officers have been found criminally guilty.
The episode stained the reputation of the US military and may well have acted as a recruiting agent for insurgents. |

the better way of doing it is. First devolve power to East, Develop it then ask for a referendum. There is no point waging a war on people if they dont want to be controlled. That should be found out first before waging war. |
