Numbers do not match. Can 10 sinhala thugs torch 12 houses in a musim majority town armed with sharp weapons? Where have the Muslim men been to.
The 10 Sinhala warriors picked the right time for their cowardly act. At the 6.30pm, the men folk must have been at the mosque praying. There would only have been women and children in the houses. May be 2 or 3 warriors would have been enough to chase the women and children and torch the 12 houses.
They could very well have torched more houses but, by the time they finished with 12 houses they must have realised it is time for the men folk to return from the mosque which made them flee from the scene. Says a lot for their bravery. |

Go to Potuvil to see the actual oppressive and anti Muslim nature of the Sinhalese Nationalism. Land grabbing land and opportunities of the Tamils and Muslims is the other side of Sinhalese politics since 1915 anti Muslim riots.
My Sinhalese friends opposing this is never become powerful. Many of them have compromised with the narrow nationalist.
Taking arms to defend our wife/husband and children and the land is our birth right. The problem of Muslim as third minority is their scattered nature of the geography and the economic and political interest.
This put put their leaders either with SLA opr LTTE. During Indian IPKF they stood close to LTTE. Rest of the time they are more close to SLA. They never get reward for their collaborative stand either from LTTE or SLA.
This is the high time for them to take historically important decision about their future

I think you are a Muslim as your name looks like a Muslim name. In any case, see my posts in pg 15 of this thread where I have given a link for the Website Muslim Guardian which confirms the incident through official sources. I have also given other links relating to articles by NON-MUSLIMS who expose the activities of the Sinhla chauvinists against the Muslims of the East.
True this incident is not reported by other media. For this reason I too had some doubts about the story from Tamilnet. See pg.5 for my post. As to why the other media didn't carry this incident, I have no idea. But the story reported by Tamilnet IS true. |
