SLA soldier killed during bomb clearing operation

A Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier searching for explosives in Pulipaaynthakal, Kiraan, Vaazhaichcheanai police division in Batticaloa district was killed Sunday at 12:30 p.m when a hidden land mine exploded, Vaazhaichchenai police said.
The victim has been identified as Mahinda Ratnayake, 30, from Matale in Kalewella police division.
Ratnayake was admitted to Vaazhaichcheanai hospital with severe injuries, and he succumbed to his injuries after being admitted, hospital sources said.
Pulipaaynthakal is located 26km north west of Batticaloa.

SLA uses Muslim villagers as human shields in Mannaar

Around fifty Muslim families in the Muslim villages in Musali division in Mannnar are being used as human shields by the Sri Lanka Army that entered the area Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the Tamil civilians in Mu'l'likku'lam village, are moving to LTTE controlled area, sources in Achchangku'lam in Naanaaddaan division said. The area concerned is accessible to both LTTE and SLA but there has been no resistance from the LTTE, the sources added.
Muslim villagers who had resettled in the villages of Pa'ndaarave'li, Musali, Pichchaivaa'nipanku'lam, Koozhaangku'lam and Potku'lam after the MoU between the LTTE and the GoSL in February 2002 are being held as human shields, according to the Muslim IDP who managed to escape the operation.
The wounded victims of the Deep Penetration Unit Claymore attack in the morning were also transported across the Aruvi Aa'ru (Malwattu oya) river to reach Achchangku'lam before being taken to hospitals in Sri Lanka Army controlled territory in Mannaar.
Hundreds of Tamil civilians from other Musali division villages, Ko'ndaichchi, Kokkuppudaiyaan, Chilaavaththu'rai and Chaveariyaarpuram had managed to flee towards Arippu Church. The Divisional Secretary in Naanaaddaan was also arranging a school to house the IDPs who might be crossing the river as tension prevails also in Arippu due to the military confrontations.

LTTE has less areas of control so that they cannot recruit kids as much as they used to. Tide has turned and I believe it is for the betterment of the people this time. It will be ideal to have tamils in the police force in tamil dominated areas.
as long as TAMILS are with LTTE , the government of srilanks will be always in losing , we all know that GoSL is a failed and a terrorists state , you may try to white wash , but the state is with lot of crime and crises of crimes agasint humanity , so the tamisl will be always with LTTE not with state terrorists .
FYI.
for the betterment of the people , please relax the control on basic food and medicine , at least they will feel the betterment not only the army . |
