Kotiya, pal:

[1.According to your theory did they get Visas to cross the border to do picketing? ]

You see, they travelled from Jaffna, which is under army control... so they probably did not need visa.

2. Why are they asking jobs from a foreign country to work in the peelam??]

I think they are affraid that they be assigned to East, and be killed by Karuna... this is just an innocent request!

Does anyone know who is behind this protest. As far as I know, the issue is not about letting those North and Eastern Medical graduates to do their interns in other areas, but finding medical graduates from other areas to go and complete their interns in North and East. No Sinhala or Muslim graduate wants to go and serve in those areas during their interns due to death threats from Eelamist Racists.

If these undergraduate are happy to volunteer, why should Mr. Silva hesitate to send them to serve in those areas.

Nevertheless, there is no reason for any Eelamist Joker to bark over this since this is an opportunity for them to serve the Native Tamil people of Sri Lanka in their 3500 years old homeland.

Mucha,
Does anyone know who is behind this protest.

good question. I'm not sure why everybody think that these protesters are Jaffna Uni Interns. :)

I also think the idea behind this proposal is to find doctors for hospitals in North (& East?). As you said GoSL should let who ever want to go/Can go to hospitals in North to go there and if there are no docs for Hospitals in the north then ask the GMOA to give a list of docs to allocate to those hospitals.

While it's unfair to Jaffna uni medical graduates to not allow to have an appointment based on merit, it would be even more unfair to people in North to have hospitals without doctors! Does those eelamist care?

Folks,

Don't jump in to conclusions. What makes think these are tamil students?

In fact they are Sinhalese students who are demonstrating against in support of fellow Tamil students. Among university students they do not have racial discrimination.

These interns should be made to work in the North and East.If you are a really a careing medical man or woman you should be able serve any where and mostly where your service is desperately needed. Most of those who choose medical profession do that not to serve the people but to enhance their life style.
These donkyes are not fit for the profession.

These are both Tamil and Sinhalease students and this has nothing to do with ethnicity. Intership is not a service but a compulsory part of training. Your subsequent post graduate carreer depends on where you do your internship. So if you do it at the NHSL in Colombo your future carreer prospectus is high whereas if you do it in some districy general hospidal its not that good. Therefore, since 1971 internship appointments where given on the basis of your results in your final year exam (gross marks). However, this mark was standardised according to the university you qualified from. Basically what happens is that people who are in the top of the merit list got a choice of where they wanted to do their internship. Therefore, it is a gross violation of human rights when you ask Jaffana graduates who are at top of the merit list to do internship in north and east. It has an affect on their future medical career. If after internship they dont wish to go and serve in those areas where they come from then its another issue.
