Guys,
I got a reply from the TechnoVillage team and told them that we'll do all we can to help. I also messaged MrBrown on how we can really help these poor souls. I won't be able to log onto LNP regularly because of my work schedule but let's hope we can all make a difference. |

Dear All,
What I have seen in most of the occasions is that we talk a lot about doing something when an issue is highlighted in media but when the hype fades, we tend to forget it completely. We should not that happen in this case. Now that Ekanayake is communicating directly with LNP, you can plan out the next steps with him. As someone else suggested earlier, LNP can do all the financial stuff without putting Ekanayake unnecessary pressure. He is new to that sort of work and let him gain experiences while working with LNP. Let him do the reporting for the time being. Someone from LNP can carry out the work with few visits to the village. What I admire most in Ekanayake is his reporting talent and love for his village. He learns fast with little guidance. We need to groom more young people like him. Rather than criticizing the existing evils, that is the only way we can change the fate of the country.
We will soon start a similar initiative in the East too. Let the beneficiaries be Sinhala, Tamil or Muslim children. Let's leave out the politics. Let's use the Web 2.0 revolution to develop the country.

Even if they dont have things that we have, I think they are happy and having a better life than most of our expartriates.
They breath fresh air, eat fresh vegitable and fruts, use fresh water, compared with what we do, breathing poisonous air, eating highly pestizided vegitable and fruits, leading to cancer.
Most of us should sympathaize ourselves.

Dear Ekanayake,
Can you meet the family and encourage the eldest girl who has given up education to go back to school? She can start with a lower grade and depending on her success, may be the principal can take her to an upper grade. I'm sure someone will help with a scholarship to the girl. What about the other girls? Are they going to school?
