What kind of social security system we have in Sri Lanka now. Are there any free rations?
These are not few individuals can help. There many societies in SL who look after people like this. In Australia SPUR has a scheme where we can sponsor a child. In this cas we must sponsor the whole family. |

It is sad to think anyone needs to live like this on an island that is so blessed with resources.
Daily the GoSL fires off dozens of shells into Tamil areas to kill, maim, and displace people so they too can live like this for years. At a cost of about $100-200 for each shell imagine how many such families could be helped by ending the racist war of occupation. |

| This is very deserving family, i am afraid there are many more unknown families like this one exist in SL and all over the world. Very sad world indeed. i hope someone would help since i can not go to SL till we get true peace. i am willing to donate money if it is facilitated like AnuD proposed. |

Need more attention from our expatriates helping these people. It doesnt matter if they r tamils, sinhalese or muslims. They r people under siege by poltics of this country.
I will support anyway I can too.
MR should take full responsibility of this situation in the country. His govt can not waste the money like the way they do now and at least should do something to people like Premadasa. He built close to 1-million houses for poor and garments in the villeges to people to work. Simple strategy but worked well for SL. What has MR done so far for the country? Other than fighting well with terrorists. |

Come on guys. No use making this a political issue here.
I am ready with funds and let me know where to send.
All this GOSL & LTTE Bull manure would help this poor family. We cannot simply help all who are in this situation . Lets at least make a start by helping this family.
All you senior members iron out a plan and post it here so that when I get up I would know where to send funds. |

I have been to this village. See http://technovillage.wordpress.com/ and www.technovillage.org for more details. The young man who does all these work is Kumara Ekanayake. You can find his contact details in above two links. He will come up with a plan for you all to contribute.
I was in Pitakumbura village last Friday and they told me these stories. But I didn't have time to go to the interior parts of this village. The content this young man has been reporting is reiliable. He tries his best to develop his village with using ICT to the maximum.

Do the filthy rich politicians care about these people? They are busy buying assets in the west with Commission. |
